About $94/month with Alianz (street parked, inner west of Sydney, max no claim bonus).

Interestingly, my previous car. A '93 Pulsar cost about the same to insure emoticon

Re: Exy Insurance Cost Comparison

Hi Guys,
I pay $640 per year (about $53/month). My insurance is through AAMI.

Details
A1 Rating
Location = Brisbane
Model = 04 TI Auto
Excess = $300 + ($250 age excess becuase I am under 25)

Your insurance sounds expensive, I suppose it is because you live in Sydney??

Mine is roughly $780/year or $65/month. 60% no claim bonus, in Adelaide. And I turn 24 on Friday!

Yep, Sydney AND no garage AND a fairly high car theft/break-in area.

Some people we know a couple of blocks away had their xtrail towed away on a tow truck by theifs at about 2am. No immobilizer is going to stop that!

Re: Exy Insurance Cost Comparison

Sydney has the highest housing prices, costs of living, and insurance premiums in the country.

I've been with Just Cars for about 5 years, and I transferred my insurance from my Pulsar SSS to the X-Trail, and I renewed it last month for $1042 with 60% NCB Protection.

Insurance was one of the deciding factors in us buying the X-Trail. Subaru Forester GT/XT was considerably dearer (probably due to the turbo, and higher purchase price (for the XT, anyway)).

My '99 model Pulsar SSS was insured for an agreed value of $26,000 a few years ago (which gradually dropped over the years) and back then I was paying a premium of $1600/yr. Last year it was insured for $22,000 and I think the premium was about $1250. I've had 60% NCB for the last 2 years.

Having Clare as a driver on the X-Trail's policy (with her accident a couple of years ago noted on the policy) didn't make any difference to Just Cars, but to other insurer's it made a big difference. One premium quote I got from NRMA was over $2500/yr! I don't know how they stay in business charging so much - maybe they get enough silly people pay these ridiculously high premiums. They also have these strange rules where if she's listed as a co-owner, instead of a secondary driver, then the premium price is cheaper?! I couldn't quite understand it, either!

And what's with all these "fire & theft" policies starting to come out again? Heard the ad's on the radio? They used to offer this years and years ago, and then they stopped, but now they've started them up again?

Re: stolen by towing: a mate's 200SX was stolen using a flat-bed truck - he lived on a main road and I think it was even parked in his garage!

So, your premium equals to around $86/month as well if I devide that by 12.

Not sure how you managed to get a quote for $2,500/year (or $208/month) from NRMA. Are you sure you didn't tell them you're driving a Lexus? emoticon I have never seen such a high premuim quote in my life.

Re: Exy Insurance Cost Comparison

Maybe that $2500+ premium quote was for the Forester XT emoticon

I'll have to find my sheet of paper where I wrote down all the prices...

I think budget car insurance was cheapest, then GIO (only by about $20/yr, though). I got a discount from Just Cars because I'd already been with them. I asked them how much it would cost if I was a new customer, and it was considerably dearer (but nothing like NRMA!). I do remember that NRMA was the dearest by far, for all the cars I got the premium quotes for.

Re: Exy Insurance Cost Comparison

Hi Guys,

My exy was paid-off yesterday and my insurance premium was reduced from $86/month to $70/month as a result.

If your car is still under finance it makes a big difference when the insurance premium is calculated.

I'm pretty happy with that, considering I was paying $68/month for my '97 Camry.

Re: Exy Insurance Cost Comparison

Mine was about $730 a year with aami, despite my concerns when trading to the little mx5 it only went up $150. When I was getting the cover note I told the girl not to tell me how much it was and ruin that "new car" moment.
