Re: Newbie Intro's

Hi Everyone,

I guess I’m a bit late for intros as I already posted a few posts already, anyhow.

I’m 31, a registered surveyor and I work for the Cairns City Council. I’m married to my lovely wife Silvia for the past 7 years and have a little baby boy on the way, due on March 17, 2005. And of course we live in the lush tropical rainforest of Cairns, NQLD.

We got a ripper deal on our Xtrail TI Manual in Dec 2002 from Stratpine Nissan, Brisbane for $33890 including on road costs. We added some extras at cost to make it $37010. The extras included nudge bar and spotlights; toe bar and ball, Shield 21 (paint shied, body shield, sound shield, interior shield, window tint), front and rear carpet mats, rear protection mat, headlight protectors, and smoked bonnet protector. And no Xtrail would be complete without personalized number plates.

We’ve had our Xtrail for about 18 months and there is very little to complain about. The squeak from the rear suspension we had when we first got the vehicle, which is now slowly disappearing. The intermittent wiper problem as with my previous post is my only gripe. And we and now starting to experience small scratches here and there. Don’t you just hate shopping centre car parks? Some people just don’t care.

That’s about it.

Kind Regards

Noel,

Congratulations and good luck with the birth of you child, it's exciting.

In regards to those small scratches, have you noticed how thin the paint work is.

Welcome to the sight and if I ever travel that far we should arrange a day out.

I am 34 yrs old married with a daughter and live on the Central Coast Area _Gosford

Re: Newbie Intro's

Paint work may be thin although I've told Nissan has very good paint. And there is no signs of any rust at the scratchs yet.

Yes, send us a buzz, if you ever head this way.

Kind Regards

NC..

Re: Newbie Intro's

Hi Noel,

I'm glad you posted an intro. about yourself, as I was trying to figure-out what did your avatar mean emoticon Now I know.

Congrats on the coming newborn, some exciting times a head of you and Silvia.

Amani (my wife) and me have been there twice already and we got 2 boys (6 years and 1 year old-actually, he's turning 1 on the 14th of January).

I can tell you, but I don't want to depress you that sometimes I just miss my single life where I could just sit and enjoy some peacefulness. emoticon Just kidding of course, kids are the joy of life.

In regards to scratches, 1st I try not to park my car in shopping centres (always use street parking if available or use my wife’s car instead emoticon ) I had a Camry and it was full of dents from other people opening their doors carelessly (including my mother in law) emoticon

2nd, from a couple of off road trips that I've been to with the guys from this forum, I managed to get some scratches from some tree braches etc. I used the "Ming finisher cream" which the dealer gave when they applied the paint protection and I was successful in removing most of the fine scratches with this cream. Other scratches, I'm just trying to ignore emoticon The car is bound to get scratched one way or the other.

Re: Newbie Intro's

Hello Everyone,

My name is Don = login name Johndejohnston.

I have a 2003 Black TI Lux pack. Located in Lake Macquarie.

I have posted some photos of my X-trail in Stockton beach in the photos>NSW>xtrail_stockton in the Austrailian xtrail link on top of this page.

Also there is a photo of my first black x-trail when I wrote it off after 2 weeks. A drunk driver came on to my side at night in a dark country road and hit us head on. Approx impact speed is more than 120Km/h. To give an idea of how bad the impact was, the rear diff was sheared off its mounts and the spare tyre came out of the well. Needless to say we opened the doors and walked out, a bit sore of course, then got another X-trail exactly the same the next week. I will hit a brick wall at 60km/h anyday and feel safe, so you guys should feel good about your purchases. Don't forget to reaffirm that to your wives too.

c ya

Hi Don (sorry for calling you John earlier),

Mate, this the 1st time I see an exy that is smashed so bad and I'm gald that you guys made it and were unhamred.

It sure looks like the engine bay got chewed-up pretty bad as a result of the impact.

I can assume that the airbags did their bit to lessen the impact on you guys inside.

What sort of a car hit you and what happened to it?

Nice new exy by the way emoticon

Re: Newbie Intro's

Just bought a Dec 02 ST Blue Automatic X Trail (with Nissan nudge bar and towbar and 33000 kms). Paid $27250 on road with 12 months rego. Added floor mats but didn't think to ask about the cargo area and the stuff slides round something horrible even on the picnic rug. Hope to do a little off-road, but enjoying the cruising for now. Seems to tow the box trailer fine. Swapped the flat trailer plug for a round one and mounted the bracket above the plate.
I am 54, married; we have two children and three grand children. Have enjoyed reading the posts. emoticon
Forgot to say I live at Taylor's Hill (Melbourne's West)
