Re-Programming Keyless Remote DIY Guide
Hi Guys,
Today I have managed to uncover Nissan's little secret and programmed the extra Keyless entry remote myself in 2 minutes flat
Here is the full DIY Procedure:
For Most Nissan Vehicles
To reprogram (enter new ID) key fob (keyless remote controller) follow the steps mentioned HERE
For the T31 Models, please follow THESE steps instead.
For those of you who disconnected the key-in warning chime socket under the steering column, you will need to re-connect it for this procedure
Please note that ALL remotes need to be present at the time of re-coding, as this process will erase all previous codes and issue a new one.
Nissan Charge $20
Australian X-Trail Forum Charge $0
Shout me a beer next time you see me. hehehehe

Re: Re-Programming Keyless Remote DIY Guide
The inside information which made think it is possible was as a result of my visit of yeterday to the dealership and luckily enough my key-in warning chime was disconnected and they couldn't do it
This made me "think" and "search" for a solution.
In the meantime use the information provided to you and save some money.

Re: Re-Programming Keyless Remote DIY Guide
Hi Nic,
This procedure is for programming the remote only (not the key)
If you want to re-program the spare remote you have, both remotes need to be with you inside the car when you do this, as a new code will be issued to both remotes.
If you leave one outside the car, it won't work and you gonna have to re-code it again.
Programming the key is a bit more complicated than that and it is done by the dealer using a gadget that plugs into the ECU. The key itself contains a chip that needs to be programmed.

Re: Re-Programming Keyless Remote DIY Guide
Lance,
I can only confirm that it'll work with a genuine Nissan remote.
Not all of the ones sold on eBay are suited for the Australian xtrail, as the frequencies are different between one country and another.
