Thanks for the suggestion Andrew, but I would like to be a bit more creative and design my own 
I have found the perfect size switch (push button type) from D. Smith
Attempt #2 will start this weekend LOL

Very nice Jason. Well done!
My only issue for not installing any light inside the box itself, is that my glovebox is always full of stuff, which in turn means that these LEDs will be blocked-off (or damaged) but that's my glovebox, yours maybe a bit more tidy than mine
I just went to Jaycar and bought a microswitch as well. This is now the 3rd switch am trying. hehehehe

First, I would like to thank John for initiating the idea for this mod. It gave me a great challenge and pleasure to have it done
Second, I would like to thank Shane76 for his help with the wiring diagram. Good on ya mate.
As I said in my previous posts, I was going to use the series II door courtesy light for this mod, but instead of mounting it on the upper tray (series I) I decided to mount it inside the glovebox itself. This is because if I was to mount it in the upper tray, it would have only illuminated half of the glovebox.
After trying about 5 different switches (all to no avail) I went to Jaycar and got myself a microswitch (as suggested by Andrew earlier) it cost $3.95 and it is the following type (OFF when pushed)
I then used a new tool which I have acquired from Mitre10. A dermel and it made the job of cutting a hole for the light in the glovebox a lot easier and neater
 
Then came the part to fit the microswitch and this is the position I have chosen, so it'll get pushed when the glovebox door is closed and therefore switching the light off as well.
 
The wiring goes as follows:
Tap into the cigarette lighter plug wiring and run the positive power wire to the ON pin of the microswitch.
The other pin of the microswitch is connected by another wire to the light.
The middle pin of the switch is not used.
The last wire from the light is connected to earth or the negative of the cigarette lighter plug.
The whole wiring set-up is connected to the accessory type of lighting, meaning that the glovebox light will only operate when the ignition key is in ACC position. This is much safer should the light come-on by itself for any reason and consume power while the car is turned-off.
The wiring itself is all tacked-in away neatly behind a plastic panel that can be easily removed/un-clipped.
Here is the final product:
 
Should I need to remove the glovebox (to access the microfilter for example) all I need to do is disconnect the plug from the light itself, no other wirring needs to be disconnected.
At a later stage I will change that globe to a white LED wedge type, so it'll look much nicer.
Who is number 3 to do this mod?
