Re: SERIOUS loss of power ???

Rich,

The trip for the butterfly screws to find their way to the engine is MUCH shorter than what you have described. Please refer to the existing thread on this for more info.

It takes one screw to drop from under the intake manifold (where these screws are located) to directly drop into one of the chambers of the engine and.....kaput

Brett,

Sounds exactly like what Debdorro experienced with her Exy when the butterfly screws were loose.
Read her explaination of problems and diagnostics here.
As Jalal mentions later in the thread, it will all be covered under warranty if proven to be the cause.
Print out this page here if the dealer says it is not covered.

Kev,
Just looked at the page you directed me to, but it does not stipulate that out of warranty claims will be met. It implies this, but can be interpreted to go against such claimes.

Can anyone send me a copy of the overseas Nissan recall relating to the butterfly screws. I can't find it.

Brett,

Read my question and Jalal's follow-up post here for his comment about the Nissan contact for warranty coverage confirmation.

Brett,

You haven't read the information Nissan provided in full.

quote:

Hi Jalal,

As advised in the last line of my e-mail "if the problem is encountered in the field, Nissan will not walk away from our responsibility for this or any other warranty issues" which basically means that we would support the customer both inside & outside normal warranty given that there are no extraneous factors involved.

I trust this is clear.

Regards,
Name Provided

The Overseas Nissan recall is mentioned in Page 1 of that thread.

Can I please ask you to shift the butterfly screws related questions to that thread, as we're trying to capture all of the instances of this in Australia and Nissan are monitoring that thread too.

As I satted in that thread, I can provide the name of the authority in Nissan Australia to the DEALER if they ask for it but first you gonna have to make sure that it is the butterfly screws that is casuing this problem and not something else.

Jalal,
Yes please, you know my email address. When you get time, I would appreciate anything you have. You know my previous dealings with this Nissan dealership, so I am not expecting good news (or service). The more name dropping, the better.

Brett,

I am not authorized to give YOU the contact name of the person in Nissan Australia.

If it proves to be the butterfly screws as we're suspecting and they REFUSE to cover it outside of warranty after you have showed the print out from the forum in full (as per the recall thread) ask the service manager to call me direct and I will speak to him and advise him who he needs to check in Nissan Australia. Am sure he will take you seriously then!

Don't shove the butterfly screws idea down their throats, let them trouble-shoot it and see what they say first.

I didn't say it was the butterfly screws that had to travel that distance -

For it to be something other than the butterfly screws, it needs to come from outside the engine, meaning it has to pass through the filter
