Responding to the masses
Responding to the masses, TeamSport Racing will offer two new classes at Lake Bryan (Round One, April 3 & 4).
Novice Runabout 1200 N-A Stock &
Pro-Am Runabout 1200 N-A Stock,
will be available for the first event to see how much genuine interest there will be in having alternatives to the IJSBA's newly defined 1200 Stock Classes, which now allow Supercharged and Turbocharged 4-Strokes to compete.
The two new classes will be run based on the following rules:
Both classes will be subject to the 2005 IJSBA rules for 1200 Stock Class EXCEPT that NO Superchargers or Turbochargers will be allowed.
The two "IJSBA-legal" stock classes (Novice 1200 Stock & Pro-Am 1200 Stock) will still be offered for the entire season, including the SuperCourse Nationals. These two classes will allow 1600cc 4-Stroke Supercharged and Turbocharged engines, as stated by the 2005 IJSBA rules.
The initial intention will be to offer these two alternative classes for the entire regular season (the Texas Aquamoto Series & the Texas Cup - East/West Challenge). As long as the number of entries are satisfactory in either of the newly added classes, they will continue to be offered (i.e. each of the two new classes will either thrive, or "die on the vine").
Event trophies will be offered for the Novice 1200 N-A Stock class. For the Pro-Am 1200 N-A Stock class, there will either be trophies, or "modified" purse payouts, depending on turnout.
At this time, there can be no guarantee of overall trophies in the Texas Aquamoto series for either of the two N-A Stock Classes, but if either class is continued through the first three events, then series trophies will be awarded for the respective class(es).
To enter either class, simply "write in" the class on the Round One Entry form. Entry Fees will be the same as for the IJSBA-legal Stock classes.
Hopefully, with these new classes, we can retain all of the Stock class racers who have been so instrumental in the previous success of this racing program.
There are many positive changes for the sport of watercraft racing this year. We do not want to allow one controversial change to nullify all of the good.
