Moving

I guess a move is in the works for my family. My dad will start a new job soon, and we will be moving a few hours away, still the same state though. I'm excited and upset at the same time. I'm so used to living in a SMALL town, and the town we will be relocating to is much larger (and more violent). We will be living in temporary housing until we know for sure if we can live in a town like that, or if Dad even can live with the job as it will require being on-call on the time. For the most part the shock of moving hasn't wore in yet.

emoticon Molly, moving is never fun,but I have a feeling your new city probably isn't as violent as you think.Sometimes incidents inthe news can make a place seem worse than it is.

Re: Moving

Small town life is definitly something missing from most of our lives. And as My Mother told me that we build new ventures in life up in our heads and they are nevcer as bad as we imagine them going to be.

Not to make this about your hero Ratman, but I am still ascared of a potential new job. Went to the place again Saturday as they were doing a special appplication takin that day as they are anxious for people. They apparently have 100 people on hold at the moment and are looking for people with a history of staying on a job. Nephew's went with me as one of them works there already, as does my niece.

Got to be interviewed on the spot (after a 3 hour wait). Said that they would look at it and I would get a call or a letter in the mail in a few Days. I am off Monday and Tuesday so I hope they call then so I don't have to ask off to go back or get the drug test. Fellow employeee's ask off all the time butt Bossman seems to feel it is a big inconvinience when I ask once evey 10 years.

I told the interviewer this was one reason I wanted to leqave that job, as if you needed off someone else has to come in. The part of the intervieww that confussed me and I imagine most anyone is when she asked me to give an example of 3 situations. Like what was a time I felt I was misunderstood by someone and what did I do to recitfy the situation, what was the result and how did I feel about the result. I knew there were dozens of times these situations occured butt had a hard time thinking of them. Plus it was irratating having someone half my age having the powere to hire or not, but that is the price of looking for work when you get older.

Things should work out well for you Molly, long as you have your Family you are Home, no matter where you are.

Re: Moving

My dad has been in interviews where they ask questions like that, and they really annoy him. He wishes they would just ask regular questions like education and work experience.

Yes, I think I will get used to city life eventually. Dad said if we can't stand it, we can move back.

Good luck on that job!

Re: Moving

Well my family is moved into the temporary housing, it's really nice, and we are doing good. It's definantly a culture shock to move here from a small town! I don't feel safe being outside alone anymore. Dad's doing alright at the new job, but we still aren't sure if we want to make this place home forever, so we haven't looked into houses seriously yet.

Re: Moving

first offf molly fix that damn avatar....sencondly moving to big city will shock you at first but once you learn that it is just a bigger version of a small town with more choices you'll be fine.
imagine having 6 different burger joints to choose from,2 or three different chicken places,10 different chinese places.competition for business sometimes gives you better and sometimes cheaper choices.
bigger can be better in some cases.no pun intended....
