My favourite web article about HDV and DVD Studio Pro

Hi folks
this is my favourite article about HDV and DVD Studio Pro.
Its written for FCP 5.14 and DVD Studio Pro 4.12 but is immediately applicable to FCP 6.0 and DVD Studio Pro 4.2:

interesting ideas, there.

do you use this method, f/h?

from just looking at the stills, i prefer the image without a blur

do you think an 8-bit uncompressed sequence would give better results than the DV50 mr Bonsia likes?
worse?
same?

cheers,
nick

Hi Nick
I have used this method with good results without blur. The blur is good to cover field problems, but can be dropped if not needed. As always its best to do a sample of the fastest moving footage and check it out with and without blur. I think 8 bit uncompressed 1080 surely would give a better result but the intermediate file size would be truly heartstopping for anything over 5 minutes in length.

BTW This workflow works now with Compressor 3. When I have another definitive way to do this with FCP 6 and Compressor Three I will post in this thread. This is unfortunately a bit of a moving target as I am not privy ro the inner workings of field handling in FCP 6 and Compressor 3. Yet. But lets say I have found some 'issues' with it at the moment.

Best Regards
