Photoshop grading....

OK this isnt new at all but since I'm an editor by trade and the last thing I ever bothered learning was photoshop.... it's been one of those things that has been bothering me... (asking photoshop geeks never helps)

The question has always been... How to apply a whole bunch of kick ass photoshop effects to a movie.....

Ok so here goes.. Provided you have a decent photoshop and most likely adobe bridge, this is the simple way to do it.

First things first:
Best thing is to work on psd stills, trust me (export the movie as psd stills into a folder.) Then import one example psd into photoshop. If actions is not open, go to window and select actions...

Click under the icon that looks like a folder. That will create a new set. Give it a name so you're able to find it easily. Then click on the icon to the right of the set folder and create a new action. It will then start recording everything you do to that image. When you are happy press the stop button. Then open up adobe bridge. There you locate the folder that has all the psds in it.. Select them all, then go to tools, photoshop and select batch... There you choose your set and action. You create a new folder in destination, click ok then voila... Bobs your uncleemoticon

One thing to know.... In earlier versions of bridge you may not be allowed to treat all the psds in one go so that can be a bit annoying.... And also it's better to import the psd sequence into motion and then send it to fcp. (FCP has a tendency to crash)
