Cropping full frame images

I'm trying to crop an image that is being reduced in the frame using the FCP 3D basic tool. Because of the angle and the position I need the image to be at, I'm getting a really jagged edge on the image, and I can't seem to crop the jagged edge out. I've tried to soften edge by using "feather mask image", but with no great result.

Any thoughts?

Hey Lordie - there's a good chance that you are only getting that problem on the freeze frame because you are working with interlaced footage.

If you watch the clip while its playing you will probably find it is not an issue.

Does that sound possible?

Not really Dougie, it's a credit roll that needs to be placed in the bottom right corner of the frame, over the top of an interview. I'm using the 3D Basic tool and transitioning full frame to a new position of, -48 degree Y axis rotation and 9 degree z axis rotation.

I think the jagged edge is due to the odd angle I have to place box!

What I'm struggling to do is is crop each of the edges of the box, (particularly the top and bottom) while using the 3D Basic tool.
The crop function is only cropping the box at correct vertical and horizontal angles... Not the new z & y rotated axis.

Is there someway I can put a frame grab up to show you?

Sure thing Lordie - the fact is that I have been hard at work creating a new forum to replace this one. It lets you do a lot of things that this forum won't - like posting a picture at the click of a button.

I haven't announced the forum officially yet, but you can start using it today to post your picture.

The new forums can be found HERE. Take a moment to sign up (easy quick free). After that your on the board for good.

Then:

Use the Shift-apple-3 shortcut to send a screengrab to your desktop.

Post a new Topic and you'll see how easy it is to attach a picture. You can also easily attach your Final Cut Pro file without media if you like so I can see if I can fix it for you.

Cheers Lordie emoticon
