Upres to HD from Compressor
Hi Guys,
In the middle of a project involving some DV-Pal footage that needs to be used within a program that has an eventual HD output.
Due to budgets and time, I am hoping to do a scale of the footage using compressor. I know that this has mixed results from people, and is never going to be as good as getting it done using. But thats not really an option, so i am making the best with what I have.
At the moment I have the footage in the timeline, scaled and distorted through Final Cut. this was for viewing purposes with the aim to then upscale with compressor and re insert the clips at their new res. I tried to copy and paste these clips into the browser of a new project, and then do a 'export using compressor' on the clips in the browser. The problem is that when I copy and paste them from my HD timelines into the new browser/bin, it keeps the pixel size at the 1920x1080 and under V1 has the actual pixel size. When I export them to compressor they then have errors and won't transcode. So... I am wondering if there is a way to mass remove the attributes that are making these clips appear as ugly FCP scaled 1920x1080 when I copy and paste them out of my HD timelines into a new project bin??
i tried a batch export, keeping "item settings" but this also exports them at the ugly FCP scaled resolution.
Also if anyone has any suggestions as to another streamlined workflow to get these clips out, upres'd in compressor, and back into my Final Cut Project, that'd be great!
Hope this is enough info... I am a bit spaced out after a long day, so if you could buzz me with more questions, or even better, answers, that would be great!
Thanks in Advance
Smithy!

Re: Upres to HD from Compressor
Hi Smithy
duplicate your HD timelines with DV material in them.
Remove all non DV footage from them. Select the sequences (one at a time) in the browser and from the tools menu use the command create master clips.
This will give you bins with the DV footage marked up as per your edits. Making a bin per sequence before using this command will help to manage the results. Then make a new DV sequence and throw the clips into it.
Hope this helps
Best Regards
