Flight8 - Day 2 - 16:00 Zulu
The flight begun with problems. SOF (me) had no IVC at all. Reconnect, Restart didnt make it. So we went on like that.
We had problems at ramp start. So we had to go back and returned to desktop, joined again. We had to start mid air. That caused us problems again. But we sorted these out and continued our ingress.
We will be seeing more in the ACMI file, but as far as I can tell, red air split up to two groups and engaged us. One group was low, other was coming high. Blue fighters engaged the lower group, scoring hits.
Then we started having complains from pilots, which saying they being shot without being visually identified.
Intel and Falcon ATO said too many things diferent for us. We saw, one of our strike flights are in fact SEAD Escort. And one of our 2 ship strike flights (Cowboy) was in fact 4 ship. Continued with this config, SEAD flight managed to shoot thier HARM missiles onto search radars, because there were no SA2 radars active in the target zone for the time being. Strike flights managed to launch their munitions on the target and scored hits.
Heres the debrief screen showing hits on ground targets.
101 st Spyder has the ACMI file for the flight and was so kind to agree to share it with us here.
Thanks to all pilots joining. Altough we had problems, we made a great flight.
Check Six.

Re: Flight8 - Day 2 - 16:00 Zulu
RED AIR debreif - 101ECV.
Once again, the WVR (VID) was unclear!!!
We did the same tactic as this morning exept we had only 3 planes!!!
I was alone going very low, no rad, and try to pop-up in their formation unnotice so the rest of my flight could be free to fire BVR on those package.
Of course they would have the same advantage once they'll visually identified me and be free to fire on the rest of my flight.
We were hoping on surprise!!!
They got me on their radar, and shot 2 or 3 AIM-120C on my plane.
I manage to evade all of them with the help of the mountain surrounding the area.
The surprise was not as intended.
Then I saw on their chat Splash-2???
OK! maybe the surprise is not dead afterall. HeHeHe
So I continued my flight very low and saw Judy in my six, about 2 miles out that was converging into our AOR.
I poped-up between the flights, (with zoom-in view and visually identified the F-16s and Mirage)
Gave the weapon free to my package and went back after Judy.... Finally rejoining him, 2 of my Iris-T missed him before I finished him on guns!
He turned away home like a real gentlemen!
So I made a pass escorting him, did a good fight wing waving on his side, then pass in front of his nose to re-engage the rest of the Blue team!
Judy did responded with a turn on himself.
I tought this was the best time I had during this week-end operation... Thanks Judy for this great sportmanship...
While I was going back into the fight, I got hit from behind and went respawn. By the time I got back, everybody had left the target site exept some AIs?
Spyder went after the rest of the package and passed trough them on their way back home without shooting at them, I ordered him to turn around and RTB.
He got shot from behind while coming back to base...
Debreif.
Hornet 1-1 Douxx
Killed 1 time
Got Judy with gun, 2 AI over the target at the end???
Hornet 1-2 Spyder
Killed 1 time
Got Ham with BVR (without visual IDed!!! Sorry, he was near the formation I did Ided)
Hornet 1-3 Boy
Killed 1 time
Got Burkout, Cobra, WildCat, Phoenix and 1 AI (all with Iris-T or Aim-9X)
Hornet 1-4 AI
RTB at the beginning of the mission.
Overall, we really enjoyed this great experience participating in FoxFlag operation.
Thanks to all the conceptors!!!
Maybe one little note on all this.
WVR (VID) within visual range rule was kind of hard to understand for some of the teams!!!
It shouldn't have be that hard but...
After VID a flight, it's hard to decern wich is who when everything is FURBALL in your radar.
I was leader of my flight and assign targets with the D-Link to my sqad, they just responded shooting their BVR missiles.
Mistakes did happen and I take full responsability.
Maybe to overcomes the frustation that some endures during this operation, we could have used only seekers and short range missiles.
I know that from my part, I'd better liked trying to get into the six of my opponents, that is why I had only 2 BVR missiles loaded on every single mission.
Just my taught!
Anyway, we had a load of fun participating!
Hope we weren't to hard on some of you guys!
No hard feeling, you battled with pride!!!
Cheers,
Stephane.
