Okay, now everyone who bought Heart Full of Sky purely for the casing (and NOT the music) raise their hands.

No one?

I thought not.

I think the point is that for that kind of money you expect to get something extra special. Yes, it's about the music, but the artwork, packaging, calligraphy, etc makes it extra special, which is why IMHO "Last Bright Light" has not been bettered since.

Yep, last time they offered a pre-order package, it was a lavish book, a DVD and a decent album. This time, for the same or more money (can't remember the price for Storms...) you got less for your money.

Why should I have paid for this when I could have copied it off a friend for the price off 2 blank CD-ROMs and colour photocopies of the cover art, saved £25 and it still look the same when it's gathering dust on my CD shelves?

the music is pretty poor by MA's standards as well.....

Hey, I'm not disputing that the music might not be up to their usual standards. Just pointing out that we DID buy it primarily for the music, and the music is, and always will be, the primary focus of any album. Full stop.

I know what I paid for, and it wasn't the a funky cd case.

the proglord then asks whether you personally feel that at £30 for a double CD this represented good money to you as an MA fan based purely on the musical content and disregarding the packaging issue?

I bought it because I thought I was going to get the whole deal as I did with Storms. We did it because we thought we were helping the band out by paying for a great new recording and we'd get thanked with a specially packaged album, as we did last time. But instead we got a duff album in boring and cheap packaging. How many different ways do you want me to write it?

I'll take that as a compliment. emoticon

Proglord, I have no idea. I haven't heard the music yet, nor will I until at least christmas day. Once I've heard the music, I'll let you know. emoticon

the proglord hopes you enjoy it entity oceanweaver, but has grave doubts, for the proglord himself doth love Mostly Autumn and considers Passengers to be a work of at a superior standard to many more famous and yet less deserving in the progiverse but sadly on listening to this one he was reminded of the time his medication was accidentally switched with hyper strength Qualuudes and he descended into a catatonic torpor for many weeks.......
