Re: The first listen...
quote: Ed1909 Steady Proglord. Maybe it's time to return to the Marillion forums.
the proglord apologises for mention Heathers toilet in this way.
although he wonders what the moderator entity has against the prog entity Marillion and their followers. The proglord has heard that "script for a jesters tear" is still played regularly in prog valhalla and that the entity known as "da fish" is held in high regard by the prog gods who view him as a kind of "waters with cushions" (and in this they are not mocking the fish entitiesc clear love of pies and pastries) and as such an essential part of the ying and yang between ascerbic political tirades and fluffy songs about cherry blossom in market squares that must exist in the prog universe.

I don't think Bach wrote anything blindfolded.

I've nothing against Marillion whatsoever. I just have my suspicions that you new chaps have all arrived today from a similar online place. Just suspicions.

You think that a cheaply packaged set of 2 CDs in a jewel case is value for money when we got a full-on lavish package last time? Are you mad? I'm sorry David, but I expect some effort when I spend that sort of money. The other week, I spent £50 on the 9-CD and 1-DVD and massively weighty Robert Plant boxset, now THAT was worth the money.
This effort from Mostly Autumn is, quite frankly, a rip-off.
I think you'll find that Plant and his record company have a lot more money to invest in packaging and the like than MA do, especially as the Plant package is a compilation and therefore there's not a lot of studio time to factor into the budget. The whole point of paying up front for HFOS was help fund the recording costs, and while I can only speak for myself, I don't begrudge that.

I suppose I can see your side of that.
Rest-assured, I don't know the other posters.

Absolutely. Marbles was a fantastic example of exceeding customer expectations after the excellent Anoraknophobia pre-order package. It was a beautiful package, thanked everyone who bought it and it was the album of the year for myself and many people.
This is what I'm talking about. If you're going to offer the pre-order scheme, you've got to exceed the expectations of those who are paying for you to make the product.

Re: The first listen...
So, just to recap... the artwork and casing was crap...
Okay, now everyone who bought Heart Full of Sky purely for the casing (and NOT the music) raise their hands.
No one?
I thought not.

the proglord is pretty certain that many members of this forum (and not just those that have arrived lately) are of the opinion that the music is pretty poor by MA's standards as well.....

I think we've already established that there are some people who bought the pre-order package to get something which both had good music AND special packaging as per the "Storms..." pre-order package.
So please go back and count those hands again. Surely even just one unsatisfied customer is a bad thing for a band in MA's position?
