I never had you down as a Country Music fan, DT.

Re: Toby Keith to play the UK
Well you won't find any Dolly Parton albums or songs about your dog dying in my CD collection DM but there are a batch of modern country singers that I really do like.
I think that when grunge broke big a lot of the big AOR writers and producers (and a fair few singers) retreated to Nashville - where a good song and a good show could still find a home in those dark days. They recorded with and influenced singers like Toby Keith, Trace Adkins, Brooks and Dunn, Bucky Covington, Gretchen Wilson and a bunch of others. These artists mix the best of southern rock, pop, aor, pure country and basically write damn fine songs and know how to put on a great show. Coupled with that they are not adverse to the odd big 80's style power ballad or two, which I've always been a sucker for (there is a cracker on Tobys latest album that I am absolutely playing to death at the moment)!
Plus, and this is the really important point, I get to wear a cowboy hat.

Re: Toby Keith to play the UK
I do remember when I first saw Garth Brooks in concert on TV, probably in the early 90s, thinking "that's better rock music than most rock music is these days" . I didn't realise there was an actual exodus of rock songwriters to country music, but it makes sense.
The cowboy hat I will say nothing about

Re: Toby Keith to play the UK
Garth Brooks is a good example. He is on record as being a huge KISS fan, and he has stated many times that wanted to bring that level of excitement and performance to his show. Back in the early 90's when so called "rock stars" starting wearing street clothes and staring at their shoes on stage under some dull white lights Garth was out there with flashbombs, special effects and exploding guitars (and some decent songs too).
