I've had a strange sort of year going to non-rock (folk, classical, jazz) gigs. Now a lot of rock gigs have come bunched together at the end of the year! Magnum a couple of weeks ago, Mostly Autumn last weekend, Deep Purple tomorrow night, then Breathing Space next week and Mostly Autumn again a couple of weeks after that.

Next year I'll try to pace things better emoticon

Went to see Purple (for the first time in 22 years!) on Friday night at the LG, Brum. Last time I saw them was in Pforzeim, Germany, in 1987 - and I think they've got better!!!!

Next gig: Mostly Autumn M-Club, Crewe, 12.12.09 and now have tickets for Tull in March next year at the Manchester Apollo (haven't seen them for 15 years either!).

I decided to pass on Deep Purple this time round. Was disappointed with Purple last time I saw them, and came to the conclusion that they ought to have called it a day when Jon Lord retired. Maybe I just caught them on an off night.

Next gig will be Dio at Manchester Academy 1 in 2 weeks time.

I decided they should have called it a day after they released 'House of Blue Light' - and I lived and breathed Deep Purple in those days. I only went on Friday to take my 16 year old son - but I have to say we both thought they were excellent - if they manage another tour we'll be there again.
