Khristopher Cross - Home Day Care - Child Molestation Charges
Michigan
Home Day Care License Suspended After Child Molestation Charges
Khristopher Cross - Charged
2642 FULLER AVENUE NE

A Grand Rapids day care is shut down after one of the owners is charged with sexually abusing children.
Khristopher Cross and his wife ran a group day care on Fuller Avenue NE. But Monday night the state stepped in to close them down.
33 year old Khristopher Cross was charged in October with multiple counts of criminal sexual conduct and one count of possession of child pornography. His three alleged victims are all under the age of 13, and Grand Rapids police say they all attended the day care.
All is quiet at the Cross group day care home on Fuller Avenue NE.
The Michigan Department of Human Services suspended the day care license as of 6:00 pm Monday. DHS says the suspension followed a recent investigation, but would not comment on the complaint.
In Kent County Circuit Court, Khristopher Cross faces charges of criminal sexual conduct, relating to children at the daycare. Grand Rapids Detective Dan Adams says, “The children were able to approach and disclose to their parents initially. And the parents then contacted law enforcement, where an investigation took place, in conjunction with day care licensing because of the nature of where it happened." And Adams says that may not be all. He says, “We do have ongoing investigations with a number of other victims that are still in the investigative stage, that we will follow up on. So, there are potential for more charges."
Khristopher Cross told WAAM 13 News he did not want to comment, except to say that he did not do the things he is being accused of and plans to fight the allegations in court.
Kent Regional 4 C is an agency that works with day care providers and parents. Executive Director Deb Vandermolen encourages parents to keep the lines of communication open with their child and child care provider. She says some behavioral changes could be a sign of a possible problem. For example, she says, “Sudden drastic changes in toileting habits. Crying, consistent crying every time the child is brought to child care, could be an indication that something needs to be explored. Vandermolen says parents should also research, interview, and observe a day care before enrolling their child.
If you have any information about the Cross' daycare, you are encouraged to call Grand Rapids Police at (616) 456-3400 or Silent Observer.
