Billy: shelter pig with an ongoing eye problem whose time was up
Billy was one of a multitude of pets surrendered to an animal shelter. The lucky ones are adopted out to new homes. Sometimes the animals may be highly adoptable except for a health issue that will not resolve. Such was the case with Billy. He had an ongoing eye problem that would not resolve with repeated treatments at the shelter. Rather than put him down, the shelter contacted one of the small companion animal volunteers to see if she would take him. She did and Billy was assessed by an exotics vet and received additional treatments and various medicines for his eye. The medical condition was not corrected and it is believed that he might have a blocked teat duct. He currently lives with Mr. Miyagi, another adult shelter pig. Additional photos may be seen in his photo album.
