K-Drama: 미우나 고우나 (Likable or Not)
I think the headband has something to do with treatment perscribed by Asian traditional medicine.
However in a K-Drama, it always means that the headband wearer regards the situation that caused the headache to be of very deep or extra ordinary importance and it is an obvious visual sign to others of their deep distress. (Like any convention it is sometimes turned on its end for comic affect, i.e. ditzy character wears headband over trivial incident.)
Seems to me that they could get the seafood dumplings to sell if the put them on a REALLY BIG SALE (don't have to actually lower the cost that much, but just convice shoppers they are getting a bargain -- adjumas can't resist a perceived good deal.)

Re: K-Drama: 미우나 고우나 (Likable or Not)
You're right, usfkman, about the headband, but last night when Granny came in wearing the band, I laughed out loud!
I agree that I would be very upset if my husband did what Jerk did. It would have been OK if he'd taken her to the hosptial and then left, meanwhile calling to tell the family that he was detained. But he didn't do that, and, in fact, I think he totally forgot or just blew off the ritual. Sua isn't important to him--the job is. Granny isn't important to him either. But Mansu is, because Mansu equates to the job. I thought it interesting that Mansu upbraided Jerk, but then took his side when talking to Granny. Well, I guess that makes sense--wouldn't want to further upset Granny.
For all Mansu's business smarts (I assume, since he's the owner of the huge business), he hasn't got a clue about his daughter, who is never upfront with him. He doesn't know that she didn't finish school in Paris as a start. I have no symphathy for Sua regardless of what Jerk has done--I won't until she actually takes some responsibility for her actions.

Re: K-Drama: 미우나 고우나 (Likable or Not)
The writers of this drama are very bold and I think they are terrific!! .......
If they ever decide to disclose the fact that Kang Baekho is indeed Bong Baekho as many have predicted ,Then I think a more interesting twists could be if Bong Sua is a Kang Sua …….Sua and Baekho are about the same age. If Dongji was carrying Mansu’s child, then it’s possible that Dongji’s then husband found out about it…..He was furious and started an affair with Mansu’s wife out of revenge…That union resulted in a baby girl-- Sua……Mr. Kang later confessed to Dongji on his deathbed…..
Mansu has always said that his only love is Dongji. Therefore, his marriage to Sua’s mother couldn’t have been a happy one. Dongji perhaps felt guilty for causing pains to Sua’s mother.. That explains her strong desire to do the ritual thing for Sua mother’s death anniversary,… and her apologetic behavior towards Sua and Granny.
If Baekho turns out to be Mansu’s bio-son, Granny will be shocked but somewhat delighted for having a male heir to the Bong family. However, we just can’t have happy ending for a nasty nasty person, can’t we??? But….If Sua turns out to be a Kang…………. Oh boy, I’m trying to imagine the look on Granny’s face if and when she found out that Sua was not her real grand daughter!!! ……The table turns, and Sua becomes a nobody, but, 3 years later….. a much better person in the end…. ……
Anything can happen in k-drama land, can’t it??

pandapop:
You’ve really opened up the spigot! You’re right, “Anything can happen in k-drama land.” However, unless the screenwriters have invented a time machine, one thing that won’t happen is a “3 years later” tie-up-in-a-bow type ending. We know that Jiyeong was in the hospital January 14, 2008. We’re in real time and the future is now.

Re: K-Drama: 미우나 고우나 (Likable or Not)
The white headband of distress has shown up in at least two other dramas I can remember-Daughters in Law (the mother-in-law of Mijin) and 1% of Something (mother of Kim Dada).
Has anyone else wondered why the office mates of Baekho are not more suspicious of his close ties with Danpung? They arrive and leave together, have intimate tete a tetes in the break room and spend far more time together outside the office and after working hours than is necessary or can be explained by duties required as in-house models. Realistically, the slightest hint of something like this would get the officemates to tease Baekho and their boss relentlessly in order to confirm or deny their suspicions.

Re: K-Drama: 미우나 고우나 (Likable or Not)
I would like to see Paris in Sua's future. A permanent visit would be just fine.
Perhaps the Bong/Kang relationship deals with Granny's generation and Mr. Bong knows nothing about it but will certainly find out later in this drama.
I guess we all were wanting Seonjae to suffer for his choices and indeed her certainly is not only from without but also from within. He is getting a double dose of torment. As they have shown his character to date, he definitely is his mothers son.
Danpung should arrange a meeting between the co-worker and Doc...the co-worker is definitely hot to trot (old term...) and his conditions would fit with her needs. Then Dan and Baekho would be free (almost) to pursue dating. (of course he would have to change departments, right?)

curly carrot,
Had to smile...'hot to trot' very apt description of the co-worker. Yes it is an old term but I still use it now and then. Used 'smitten' the other week at the oncologists and a patient was curious. So nurse told him 'Peggy means she has a crush on you'. Not the thing at all so had to put him straight considering he is about mid twenties and I am mid OOOOOOs.
Peg :-)

Re: K-Drama: 미우나 고우나 (Likable or Not)
LOL Well, pandapop and lex07, I have seen that scenario in the very first k-drama I saw, back in 2001. In that one, the babies were switched by the grandmothers (mean grandmother repented before the end of the show), the children fell in love, families pulled them apart, girl fell in love with someone else, who decided to go to US (always a death knell for any relationship), boy kidnapped girl to declare his love, and the two ended up together! Having never seen k-drama before, I alternated between fascination and bouts of laughter. I couldn't believe, innocent me, that anyone could write such a story. It's actually the reason I got hooked--I had to see what else they could come up. Back then, there was one drama subbed, and all the rest were unsubbed, at least the ones I could watch. I still remember many of them because I watched as many as I could.
