Re: K-Drama: 미우나 고우나 (Likable or Not)
Even though I do not like Miae as a character, I think the actress playing her is the most physically attractive in this ensemble. Tall and super-thin does not appeal to me as beautiful. The description of Sua that I most enjoyed was Pooka calling her Olive Oyl! My mind usually goes to creatures in nature and when I see stick bodies like Sua or Lady Jami's (Emperor of the Sea), I think of a human preying mantis. (I also realize many women and men find this type near perfect. To each her/his own.)
I, too, like the sane female office worker (Dan's friend). She has an exceptionally pretty face and pleasant expression. Maybe she just doesn't have that star quality Korean's like and is destined to play the friend. The nutty one who has glombed onto Baekho is also very pretty, like a cute elf. But cute, in this character, is empty. The other office worker seems to have a positive core that almost glows. Reminds me of the difference in the two female leads in Gone With the Wind—Scarlet v Melanie.
My favorite overall character, though, is Baekho. The actor who plays him is perfect for the character, and his character is an honorable, good-hearted soul. These characters are all very young, actually, and I'm enjoying Baekho's struggle to grow into adulthood. He's doing a good job of it.

K-Drama: 미우나 고우나 (Likable or Not)
If you go back and read the series introduction on page one of this thread the description of Baeko seems to be of a completely different character. The writiers are definitely letting the characters (and actors?) grow on their own rather than imposing a detailed script. Fascinating to watch!
Maie is in the transition stage, early 30s she's not a spring chicken, but by no means an adjuma either.
Actually, I love the looks of many of the k-actresses over 40 (or even 50), such as Inu's/Mijin's mother on "DIL." the Empress Wu on "DJY" and "Yi-san's mother (and Jumong's stepmom)." Maybe its because they are closer to my own age.
Sort of like the joke my pastor told last Sunday -- two men, one 80 and his son of 40, were walking down the street and they saw a very attractive woman walk past. The son turned to the Dad and said "I'll be glad when I am older and the sin of lust doesn't hit me." And his father said, "me too!"
We get so spoiled looking at the males and females of Hollywood and Seoullywood (?). We have to live in the real world where folks are not are not from the 99.99 percent of the best looking.

Re: K-Drama: 미우나 고우나 (Likable or Not)
I have to agree with nchristi, "stick figures" are NOT my thing...which is why I would like to see Danpung put some meat on her. As pretty as she is, she's WAY TOO thin, I think!! Actually, I think Jiyeong is almost perfect, in her body shape & I really like Miae...healthy & shapely
Have to also agree with usfkman about certain k-actresses...Mijin's mom on "DIL" is VERY attractive, as is her daughter, LOL...and there are many attractive "older" Korean women who sometimes make the younger ones look quite bland, LOL!! And, I'm a 44 yo male.
I also think Baekho's other two female co-workers are quite attractive but I, especially like the nutty one, who's after Baekho!!

Re: K-Drama: 미우나 고우나 (Likable or Not)
I hope creep doc would finally be out of the picture; glad DP was able to say it - I CAN'T MARRY YOU! It took an almost mishap at the skating rink for her to realize her real feelings for the doctor - and Baekho!!
I missed Friday's episode so I wasn't really sure what happened when Jiyeong's dad went to Songjae's office with a thank you gift. Now Ujin knows about Songjae and what he did to Jiyeong; and from his conversation with Jiyeong, he was the one who introduced Songjae to Jiyeong. He probably knew back then Songjae was a jerk because he said he could have warned or stopped Jiyeong from dating Songjae.
Can't wait for the preview - scene with Ujin and Jiyeong with the hospital bill seems interesting to watch; and of course, Ujin is so pleasant to watch also!!

Re: K-Drama: 미우나 고우나 (Likable or Not)
Happy to see that Danpung is not "caving in" to the pressure of her mom & the psycho doc and is, FINALLY, putting the doc in his place!! Hopefully, Danpung's dad doesn't take his wife's side in this situation & will support his daughter...especially, since he's always talking about how important "true feelings" are!! No denying the chemistry between Baekho & Danpung
Looks like the fireworks between Miae, Dalhyeon & Sonya are ready to EXPLODE!! I get the feeling that the Jerk is ready to get revenge on Ujin, by finding some way to eliminate him & take away his job...what a loser
Really hope that Jiyeong & Ujin get together!!
Looks like it's going to be quite a week of episodes...full of drama & tension and, hopefully, a little comedy!!

Re: K-Drama: 미우나 고우나 (Likable or Not)
When the team was discussing the lukewarm response to their dumplings, and Rat came over, was there a smirk on his face? Could he have something to do with it-subtlely, of course. Ujin is so sweet-he really wants to protect Jiyeong now-he said, if "i'd known sooner, I would have made sure you had nothing to do with him". It might be too soon for Jiyeong, but here's a good man waiting for her.
Way to go, Dan! Thank you for returning the ring to that creep! Just be sure to watch your back 'coz he may do something crazy-but don't worry, Baekho will be there to protect you.

Re: K-Drama: 미우나 고우나 (Likable or Not)
Seonjae is an interesting character: he’s a villain you can root for, although almost no one here does. He is handsome, intelligent, well-spoken, and assured. It’s easy for people to come under his spell, whether businessmen or damsels (and their guardians).
But he threw over Jiyeong, a virtuous and meek lass he had known for ten years and was informally engaged to for at least the time he was overseas and likely to marry, so we are led to believe at the outset of the story, once he was comfortably resettled in Seoul. Why did he forsake his beloved? In these parts, most people say for money (or more generally, greed). Jiyeong’s father says for ambition (to become the son of Bonjour). In either case, he went from hero to jerk.
But there’s another reason that’s not so blameworthy, though he still comes off as cowardly if not villainous. That reason is security. He came back from his studies abroad as a hotshot MBA, ready to dazzle the business world. Instead, he immediately got into trouble to the extent that his career was threatened. He wondered aloud to Jiyeong whether it was going to be his lot to spend the rest of his life paying off the mortgage. She of course wouldn’t get the hint, but we did because we knew his options. He had the means to rescue himself at hand - literally at hand - and he took it. Exit Jiyeong, enter Sua.
Seonjae knew what he was doing. If anyone understood Sua it was he. Hopelessly spoiled, painfully dense, frightfully boring - Sua and her millions came at a high price. To gain security, he not only had to renounce love, he had to embrace a partner who sapped both his energy and spirits. But whereas he thought that after winning Sua, her defects could be rectified under the guidance of his mother, in fact she is proving to be a constant source of petty irritation that tries the patience and sanity of two families.
Moreover, two unexpected developments are now adding to his discomfort. First, his road to the top of Bonjour has turned rocky. Baekho may become a formidable rival, especially when, from Seonjae’s point of view, his own sister acts as a front for Baekho’s ploys. And he is discovering that his status as son-in-law may not confer any more special consideration from the president than Baekho’s status as stepson. Second, Jiyeong appears to be heeding the advice he himself gave her when he cast her aside: “Forget me and find a better man!” It seems that she has. Unchecked, Ujin may quickly supplant him in Jiyeong’s heart and so cut off his retreat should he decide to fall back.
So what is he to do? Dig deeper or jump out of the hole? Stayed tuned.

Re: K-Drama: 미우나 고우나 (Likable or Not)
well said Pleiad.
Also, as I recall, Maie started seeing Dalhyeon differently before she knew about his attraction for Sonya, therefore, I don't believe her movements towards a reconciliation were entirely based upon jealousy. Dalhyeon and Maie had considerable maturing to do...remember Dalhyeon wasn't able to keep a job and if Maie was a stay at home mom and watched the dramas like Danpung's mother does, it is not surprising that she would like to try and reach for a little of that limelight and celebrity status
