Re: K-Drama: 미우나 고우나 (Likable or Not)
Koreans are used to arranged marriages, but although some things are changing when it comes to marrige and children, I heard this just recently from my friend's sister, who lives in the US--she expects her sons (now under 10) to marry whom she decides and she expects them to learn to love their wives after they marry. That's what Dan has to face. Whether she loves or even likes crazy doc, he's got the right social qualifications and the parents are all for it.
Of course, when it turns out that BH is MS's son, all will be well! LOL

K-Drama: 미우나 고우나 (Likable or Not)
I read an article recently which stated that Korea has the highest divorce rate in the world...

Re: K-Drama: 미우나 고우나 (Likable or Not)
After taxing my memory a bit I recall that Kang Baek Ho met Danpung before Hyeonu met her, in the first or second episode-I think. Baekho had lost his mothers money at the racetrack and was afraid to go home. Being desperately hungry, since he had no money to buy food, he zeros in on a stand in the supermarket where Danpung is distributing samples of Bonjour's latest product. Baekho stays there for a very long time gobbling up the entire stock of samples and thoroughly annoying Danpung in the process. Then when Baekho appears in Danpung's office as the new employee she is pre-annoyed at him so to speak.
Also, I recall that early in the show, before any specific reference is made to Sonia's nationality there was a scene where she is talking to herself about her dreams in the presence of Dalhyeon-and speaking in Japanese. Eva Popeil, who plays Sonia is half Japanese (mother) and half English. I guess that Russians are more popular in Korea than Japanese so Sonia became Russian.
I think the writers are going to make us wait a very long time before they get Baekho and Danpung together. I would as the writer if I knew I had the viewers hooked on this relationship.
Danpung's whole life has been very orderly. In addition to knowing what was expected of her by family and society, her goals are clear and she has been relentlessly focused on when and how to achieve them. Romance is secondary to career goals, happens in the distant future when it can be accomodated without jeopardizing career goals and should be someone of the right qualifications (meets everyone elses approval). She told Hyeonu "everything feels mixed up". This is Baekho causing feelings in Danpung that threaten to re-arrange her orderly march on a clear path and causing her to question her entire direction in life. Hyeonu does not appear threatening to Danpung-yet but the feelings Baekho stir up in Danpung no doubt scare her very much. For that reason I expect Danpung not to welcome Baekho's drunken declaration of love.

Re: K-Drama: 미우나 고우나 (Likable or Not)
LOVED Danpung telling off the brat for being such a princess with her mom & Dongji for FINALLY telling her MIL to lay off Baekho, after trying to set him up on a blind date & getting upset when he says, "Thank you, but no" Granny & Sua are truly HOPELESS!!
Still wish Danpung was the same way with the psycho doc but denying Baekho's feelings like she did & yelling at him, for telling her his feelings about her, didn't sit well with me tonight!! Getting "shot down" like that by a girl you really like, is worse than death & can't believe that Baekho is refusing to accept the promotion by Mansu for another department & continues to work with Danpung I couldn't do it...work with & see the girl who just shot me down, after professing my love (which is not an easy thing to do, for us men, to begin with), every day And I wouldn't want to!! You can tell it's killing Baekho but he deals with it?? Oh well.
I know that they will end up together, eventually, but the whole episode with Baekho now telling Danpung TWICE, how he feels about her,...for nothing...and Danpung able to tell Sua off but not psycho doc, was too much to handle without posting about it. Sorry...rant over, LOL!!
Preview shows Sonya introducing Dalhyeon to her "sister-like friend," Miae I could have sworn that Sonya knew who Dalhyeon's ex was before?? Should be interesting!!
--- Nam Sang-Mi...my favorite K-drama actress & a BEAUTIFUL woman!!
Chae Rim...my 2nd favorite K-drama actress & gorgeous!!

K-Drama: 미우나 고우나 (Likable or Not)
Korea's divorce rate is as high as the United States' divorce rate is which is very high especially among the young. The men in Korea are still very chauvinistic even though some of the Korean dramas show them to be kind and sensitive to women.

I remember my opthalmologist warned me when I joked about finding a korean boyfriend. She said 'don't even think about it'.

Re: K-Drama: 미우나 고우나 (Likable or Not)
Sorry to bother everyone (this is a little off topic) but I have a question about Miae.
I finally remembered where I first saw her (I think) - was she in "To Be With You" with Moon-hee and Jae-hee? She was after one of the brothers (I want to say Jo Min-Ki - right/wrong?) and was the daughter of someone with a little store in an indoor mall.
She was flirty and outrageous and out to get a rich husband, I think. But I also remember her with a different smile and even teeth! Did she have some work done or was she in an accident or is it just not the same actress? She is still very pretty and I like that her character is feisty, though rather misguided and not much of a parent. I wish she would have really bopped Sua and popped Seonjae one in the jaw! I think she could!
