Re: K-Drama: 미우나 고우나 (Likable or Not)
Oh, man! I about screamed after last night's episode. It was painful to sit there for half an hour and see what? Someone, somewhere is enjoying Likable or Not, but it isn't me.
This is the absolute worst, most boring Daily Drama I've seen yet in the last 4-5 years. Boring is one thing, but painful is another. I could barely sit through it last night and seriously considered whether or not to just drop out and stop recording it, as well. This seems like one of those stories where you could come back 5 months later and not feel as though you missed anything much.
Here's what I see grinding on endlessly... class ul class li Dongji slaves away in the household as Grams tortures her class li Sua pursues Seonjae with his mom's help class li Seonjae will come upon hard times financially and accept Sua/Grams' help and become beholden to them class li Jiyeon is broken hearted but silently bears it all class li Dalhyeon keeps losing money class li Hyeonu is forever jealous class li Danpung goes from one Baekho disaster to the next class li Baekho messes up but gets out of it miraculously class li ...till the drama ends where we see a couple people get married.I keep waiting for Likable to pick up the pace and give us something new but my patience is very, very near its end. If only I liked some of the more prominent characters. But I don't. And I like the story even less. I find nothing appealing about these characters—except maybe the girl from Kazakastan and Dalhyeon and "Cider Park" of the office gang.
Sorry this is so negative, everyone. I guess I just had to vent my feelings after the great frustration I felt last night. The one ray of hope is that in the past, when I have reached this point, so had the Korean audiences and the writers reacted appropriately before most people tuned out. I guess that's what I'm still here waiting for.

K-Drama: 미우나 고우나 (Likable or Not)
One of the problems with the actor who plays Baekho and his terrible expressions is that his mouth and lips are strangely shaped.
KBS World is a little ahead for some strange programing this past week. It was actually behind in scenes until last night.
What is it's popularity in Korea? It doesn't seem too popular in the states.
Nchristi, I again agree with most of your comments about the show.

Re: K-Drama: 미우나 고우나 (Likable or Not)
Hi, guys. I miss talking to you, but I'm pretty much out of this one. I watch about 10 minutes a week! However, I go through this phase every so often with the daily drama--it's so predictable and it's basically the same story over and over again. Sometimes there's a twist or a character or an actor who grabs my attention. But this one turned me off at the beginning because for some reason I just can't watch the guy playing Baekho. Nothing against him, maybe if I knew him personally as a friend, he'd be great. But I just can't watch him on the screen--it's a totally emotional response!

K-Drama: 미우나 고우나 (Likable or Not)
Hi everyone. This is my first post as I have just discovered this board, but I have been watching CJK Dramas for many years. It took a while to read through 15 pages!!
Thanks to everyone for their comments and the tie ins to the talent that appeared on other shows. When I watch the first episode of a drama, I count how many of the actors/actresses I have seen in other dramas. This one, like most others was about 10!!
As for this story, I find it to be very interesting! Sua is a spoiled brat/***** and she does a great job of playing the part! Dan Pung is trying to work her way up through the ranks and often is confronted with nincompoops like Baek Ho. I gotta laugh when I see his character screw up time and again, like when he rushes into a closing door elevator and gets a call and divulges his blind date when (unknown to him) his boss is in the back of the elevator and he told his boss that his child was sick to get out of work early (after she just found out the day before that he doesn't have a child). LOL The drama queen who gets a last minute part and gets so involved she looses her son. The grandma who is so vehemently opposed to her son wedding that she makes her DIL to be sign papers that she will make no monetary gains from the marriage - the ***** of all *****es! Wait until Mansu finds out! The crap will hit the fan!!
I think this drama has great characters.
I think that it will be revealed at the end that Baek Ho is Mansu's real son. I think the Vet girl will get her man in spite of Sua's power, money and maneuvering. I think Beak Ho and Dan Pung will wind up together in the end! As for Mansu and his wife and grandma - something's gonna snap! Grandma just let the ajumma go so she can make her DIL do all of the housekeepers work. Oh, and Uncle is gonna lose every penny to his boss who will take his money and run, and Uncle and Sonya will take over and run the business on their own.
just my 2 won. Thanks for letting me ramble!

K-Drama: 미우나 고우나 (Likable or Not)
Thank you nchristi.
I'm glad to share posts with people of similar interests.
Your synopsis on the first post of this page rings true and I can sympathize. There was one drama where the daughter in law was tortured by the mother in law the entire series. I wanted to tell the DIL to either slap the MIL or to slap her husband for not protecting and defending her! In the end she had a baby (after many years) and the MIL finally accepted her. (typical k drama ending - either have a baby or get married!!) LOL

Little Chan is a cutie.. He sings and he draws pictures for the nasty Granny, and she can’t help herself but to love him.
Baekho keeps me laughing. The other night, he and Sua had Ramen together. That was a nice scene, and here again, Sua starts to be civil towards him. Granny and Sua are changing for the better a little bit already.
I also think that Baekho’s uncle is in big trouble, but, I really thought his boss was a decent guy, and that his wife was in the hospital…Lies, lies and more lies.
About the Russia Oil fund crisis, I don’t quite understand why it’s a crisis for Seonjae. Because, I was under the impression that the more customers move their money in and out of the account, the more commissions a fund manager makes. They probably have a different system from the US Mutual Funds?
Mansu is my favorite right now. He welcomes Dongji's family with open arms, and he tries to deal with his mother and daughter with great patience. I hope he will win them over.
One of the nice things about this board is that we are all independent thinkers. It’s nice to have many different point of views.

K-Drama: 미우나 고우나 (Likable or Not)
Hi Pandapop
I agree with all of your comments.
The reason that Seonjae is in trouble is because he is the fund manager. He created the fund and will lose face big time if the price tanks. If the investors pull their money out, the price of the fund will drop to nothing and become worthless and his reputation will be destroyed.
