Re: K-Drama: 하늘만큼 땅만큼 (As Much As Heaven and Earth/High as the Sky, Wide as the Earth)
Hey everyone!
I'm back! LOL. I was waiting for PIH to end.....
I'm watching this show and still haven't got all names yet..slowly but surely I'll get it.
My fav actress from 1 Million Roses is here that makes me happy though sometimes I don't like her hairstyle!
The rich bratty bride makes me wanna puke. And the groom makes me wanna vomit.
And the Lead girl reminds me of Jong Nam from BB....I don't wanna see another sad lead girl....God she needs to have a bright face and not so sad all the damn time.
I don't want to say more...cause since I'm watching 2 versions one is I beleive ahead of California and the other is behind.
Those who are in NYC and if you have cable then you can watch on Channel 512 the 1 or 2 episodes ahead version from West Coast around 7.00 p.m.
Nice to see you all!!!!

Unfortunately my cable company doesn't carry MKTV which I assume is the station you are talking about.

Re: K-Drama: 하늘만큼 땅만큼 (As Much As Heaven and Earth/High as the Sky, Wide as the Earth)
So far I'm not bothered by Groomie and don't see him as really a wimp. My guess is that he's just confused and shocked right now. It will take him some time to adjust to a couple of things he's never before experienced in his life: class ul class li A wife who is not simple and "proper" in her lifestyle. He has lived his entire life in a family who basically follows the Korean "rule" of putting the family first, not one's personal desire. He took for granted that his wife would be a typical one, respecting family and elder hierarchy, having children, etc. Not only is he shocked at what he has married, but he does not have the tools—yet—to handle it (if that is possible with Eunju). It will take him a while to find his footing. Right now, anger or silence are the only two methods he has. class li Living in a very rich and prominent family. The dad is some sort of high-ranking professor or official at a university, I believe. Unlike here in the US, people in education are at the top of the heap in Korea career-wise and in being respected. "Poor" people and "rich" people lead very different types of lives with different social custom. One is not better than the other; they are just vastly different and tend to look down on the other. Groomie has been plopped down in their environment; he is the one who has been lifted from his comfort zone and suddenly immersed into a lifestyle in which he has to make all the changes to fit in and to keep the peace. class li He's lost his male pride and position. He was the key male figure in his family. Now he finds himself put into a "lap dog to the rich" position, something he's never faced before. It isn't as easy as it might seem for him to stand up against his MIL's maneuverings. He has been raised from day one to always respect and obey family elders. He's holding on by focusing on the light at the end of the tunnel—moving out after one year. (Plus, in Korean culture, the mother is the ruler of the home and the children's education and launching out into the world. That's why we don't see husbands/fathers stepping in forcefully very often. It's a line the men usually respect and feel uncomfortable crossing, just as the wives do not cross the line over into the husband/father's business world.)Personally, I'm willing to cut Groomie a lot of slack right now. At the end of one year, I think he will still want to move out, even if it is into a very small, inexpensive apartment. Of course, there will be a lot of grief over that from Bride and RichMom. All of this depends, of course, on whether or not this marriage is still intact in a year!
As for the bride, she looks and sounds pretty nasty sometimes, but there is a good side to her and when she's left to cool down she seems to genuinely care about Groomie's feelings. I still hold hope for her.
I was a little more on her side over not ditching the business meeting to go meet Muyoung. It wasn't as though she couldn't meet him soon (on the weekend), and a business meeting is a business meeting. Some you can miss; some you can't. If she used it as an excuse, then that's not right. But in the end, it probably is a better idea to meet Muyoung in the family setting instead of how Groomie wanted to set it up privately.

Re: K-Drama: 하늘만큼 땅만큼 (As Much As Heaven and Earth/High as the Sky, Wide as the Earth)
nchristi, thanks for the photo of YHY--she is lovely. I'm just so enjoying her comedic turn here.
I agree, also, with your assessment of Groomie. At the same time, it was interesting to hear what the foster brother said to Groomie. I think Groomie is so intent on following the rules that he never takes into account emotions, and the younger man is well aware of that, whatever other problems he may have. For me, it's hard to watch Groomie because he's so strait-laced (it also looked like he doesn't like his "bride" in real life!! LOL).
And thanks, again, for the deleted scenes. Scenes supporting the relationship between TG and Prof seem to have been cut several times, darn.

K-Drama: 하늘만큼 땅만큼 (As Much As Heaven and Earth/High as the Sky, Wide as the Earth)
So far, I like this show much more than PIH which I only watched it at fast forward replay when I had time.
I like the actors in this production and do not find any of them really objectionable. However, the actress who plays the biological mother is in too many shows for my taste.
I am just hoping this show does not have a predictable ending like PIH.

Re: K-Drama: 하늘만큼 땅만큼 (As Much As Heaven and Earth/High as the Sky, Wide as the Earth)
Hi Smoochie and Maranyc,
I've Time Warner cable. And it's on Channel 512- MKTV the one Maranyc is talking about. I don't know on cablevision which channel that would be-okay after typing this I was searching for the website and I found it. Here it is-
http://www.mediakoreatv.com/
Maranyc is right, on Cablevision it's on 261. Okay I don't know why but the schedule is in Korean even if I click on English it comes in Korean- but still I think I know it is at 7.00 p.m. Seems like both 512 and 261 have the same schedule for all programs.
If you had Time Warner you could have watched another channel which I found out recently on 560. It's called Imaginasian Tv something like that. It shows prgrams from all over Asia. They are showing Full -House and Winter Sonata now (I know both so so old but still) and probably many more, but I didn't get a chance to see any.
Enjoy!!
ETA- I'm so glad that I get to see on 2 channels, the day when I miss the 7 p.m. episode I can make it up next time on the other channel couple of days later....hehehehehe

Smoochie, not all show on that channel have subtitles, but Dramas are with subtitles and I guess that's all you need.
