Re: K-Drama: 하늘만큼 땅만큼 (As Much As Heaven and Earth/High as the Sky, Wide as the Earth)
Good morning, Sky and Earth people!
Maybe1: Thanks for the picture of Jisu's boyfriend. Too bad, he's not going to stay long in this drama. I think he and Jisu are a perfect match. He is good-looking, employed and from a rich family.
Nsheldon: I think Jisu looked very elegant after the re-do. But that sister-in-law-to-be is so domineering and presumptous. Even at the restaurant, she had to ignore Jisu's choice from the menu and re-order what she wants. I would have stood up and leave that place in a hurry.
It seems that Jisu's fiancee is blacksheep of the family, according to the sister. And as such, the father is disappointed, which delight the other children because they'll have less competition for the affection of the parents. That is why the domineering sister is very satisfied with Jisu because, according to her, Jisu is ordinary and if she marries her fiancee, the father will probably disown him.
Wow, what a situation. This k-drama is more about rebellious children, un-traditional marriage arrangement, spunky DIL, nice MIL, not so nice Granny, estrange husband and wife relationship (the parents of the bride) and love between an over-50 Professor and an old-maid former student.
Interesting .........intriguing .............funny

K-Drama: 하늘만큼 땅만큼 (As Much As Heaven and Earth/High as the Sky, Wide as the Earth)
May be we should make all the charactors nick name, it will be easy to comment.
This is another one, I hope it only happen in the dramas, those newly wed, seems to be never discuss about where to stay, and when will have children, it seems to be always find out after they married, is that really love is blind and deaf? never see anything about the future together?
I agree that all girls in here are very pretty, most of the guys in here is good looking, not like other dramas, it had some extremely not fit in. or extremely good looking - like my favor YH.
I like this show already, but kind of confuess with the relationship and the name, when I guess it need to take time to remember, and understand them.

The dance scenes are hilarious! YHE is doing a great job chasing after the Prof. Especially that scene, in her imagination, when he tossed the rose from his mouth onto her after she fell down. LOL
Groomy is so strait-laced. Tells his wife what to do, tells his brother what to do. The dutiful oldest son. Depending on how this one goes, he'll either loosen up, or everyone else will decide that he's been right all along.
The mysterious grandma must be rebellious boy's real grandmother?

Re: K-Drama: 하늘만큼 땅만큼 (As Much As Heaven and Earth/High as the Sky, Wide as the Earth)
class p Episode 5 (Wed) - Deleted Scenes
After Rich Mom (Hyekyeong - maybe we should call her "IceMom") delivers the tea to her husband and they have their little "cold war," RM goes into Bride's bedroom... class ul She is in bed reading. Mom complains to her daughter and the daughter is also complaining. I think I heard a few "halmonies" in there, so maybe Rich Mom was asking her about being at her in-laws. Mom was taken aback by something. Since the discussion with her husband was about Bride & Groom moving out after a year, maybe Bride told her mother that Groom wants to leave after one year. class center *****Next morning, breakfast at the rich family: Mom, Dad, Bride & Groom, younger sister (Eunha).... class ul Mom sternly addresses her son-in-law (groom). Bride jumps in and more sternly stops her mother from bringing up the subject. Mom changes subjects, but still aiming it at Groom. Little Sister pipes up about something in a cheerful manner. Dad asks Groom something and Groom is a little self-conscious about his answer. Bride jumps in and changes the subject. Dad seems okay, then gets up to leave for work. The whole family goes to see him off at the door. Dad gets on his younger daughter's case about wearing a mini-skirt. class center *****At the office... class ul Tango Girl is in the office when Jisu (prof's daughter) arrives, carrying two large shopping bags with the designer clothes/bag in them. It seemed as though Jisu wanted to give the clothes to Tango Girl... or is planning on returning them to the store?... but TG argues with her... probably that it's improper to give away or return expensive gifts like these? Jisu says "okay" in a disheartened way and puts the bags down beside her own desk. class center *****At an ATM... class ul Sanghyeon (Groom) is withdrawing money but doesn't have anywhere near the $6000 required to settle the broken teeth incident. He meets with his older sister, Tango Girl (Myeongsu is 38, Groom is 28). It looks as though he asks her for the money but I don't think he tells her it is for their younger brother, Muyoung. She must be saying "yes," as Groom thanks her. class center *****Mystery Grams eating annual meat meal... class ul The scene begins in the old folks' center kitchen. MGrams drags Sunim out of the kitchen and they are next shown in the nice restaurant eating their meat and beer together. class center *****At the Kim home (Groom's family)... class ul Sunim is fussing over her son's (45-year-old baby) fingers, putting bandaids all over while he whimpers. In walks Myeongju (Groom's mother), carrying a large bowl of greens to be stemmed. As she walks in, it seems that MyeongTae (the big baby) is asking her to bring him something, then he sees she's busy carrying the veggies. If looks could kill. I think she's mega fed up with his spoiled, lazy ways. He drops his request. class center *****Sorry, no screen caps available. Doesn't look like there are any on Soompi until maybe episode 9.

Re: K-Drama: 하늘만큼 땅만큼 (As Much As Heaven and Earth/High as the Sky, Wide as the Earth)
Oh, yes! Tango girl and the Professor, and Mysterious Granny have already gotten me hooked on this program.
At first I thought this might be a very serious drama only, but I can already see Tango girl and the Prof will be fun to watch. Their story will be stretched out as long as possible, but that's OK with me. I hope they end up together in the end, but if not, then I'll just have to take him myself.
I've got an idea as to the plot involving Mysterious Granny. It will interesting to see how close I am to guessing how her part of this story plays out.

Re: K-Drama: 하늘만큼 땅만큼 (As Much As Heaven and Earth/High as the Sky, Wide as the Earth)
Oh, I LOVE Tango Girl! That's just great!
old schooler, he's mine--I said so first (is this like kindergarten??). LOL
I agree, they can stretch that story out as long as they like. Two likable characters, well-portrayed. So much fun to watch. Yes, Yoon Hae young is really good in this so far--I have also never seen her in a comedy role, always the dutiful daughter or daughter-in-law. And Yo sup ssi has just a beautiful smile (oops! I think my bias is showing )
Did you notice last night, in the car scene when SLG (strait-laced groom, until you guys come up with something better!) was waiting for RS (rebellious son)? That was where Yummy walked Goodie home several times in PIH. These nicknames are so much fun.
nsheldon, I don't dislike Groomy--it's just that so far, he's really a drag. He represents good things, but at the moment, he's being so pedantic about it. Ah, good korean drama stuff, that is!
The last thing I saw BB in, he was a crook, although I can't remember which one it was! Every time he shows up in this one so far, I expect him to sneer about something, but even though he's wimpy so far, I'm really enjoying his portrayal. Last night, they mentioned his wife and children, but I've missed where they've immigrated to--the US??

class blockquote nsheldon wrote:
Ok, is MG (Mystery Grandma) really the grandmother or mother of people in the poor family? I am confused still about who belongs to whom... We don't know yet exactly how MG fits in, but obviously she has some tie with the poor family.
I made a mistake about Tango Girl and Groomie. They are not real brother and sister from what I can make out from the charts.
Here's the basic "Poor Family" that runs the small restaurant (correct me if anything below is incorrect, please):
Lee Sunim (65) - (The lady MysteryGrams took to eat meat. I may be wrong but I think Sunim is the widowed SIL of Groomie's mother.) She has two children: class ul
Tango Girl (38) and
Bubs (45) ("Big Unemployed Baby Son") - Bubs' wife and children are in the US (studying?) and he is planning on moving there, tooThe others living at the restaurant, the Kims (men) and Parks (women): class ul
Kim Taesik (54) - Groomie's Dad, married to...
Park Myeongja (51) - Groomie's Mom (married women keep their maiden names)
Kim Sanghyeon (28) - Their son, Groomie (married, moved to rich in-laws)
Jeong Muyoung (24) - Adopted son, lost soul.Okay, I think this is the most complicated family group in Sky/Earth, so hopefully this will help clarify a little.
