Re: K-Drama: 하늘만큼 땅만큼 (As Much As Heaven and Earth/High as the Sky, Wide as the Earth)
addie, I think it's not just as simple as putting LB on the register. Remember Yellow Handkerchief? I think they have to have the father's consent. I've read on the web that the law is changing in 2008, so that the mother has more say in the matter. Still, even the new law says that a man who has a child outside of marriage has to ask the mother before he can put the child on his register. So, that's probably where Taesik and Myeong-ja are--they'd have to ask the father (not sure the father is ever mentioned, just the mother) for permission to register LB. Under the current law which supports just the male line, I don't think Grams has any say in the matter. Groomie is now the eldest male of that family. This is a different kind of family, too. Ordinarily, the daughter would be living with the husband's family. Taesik is living with his wife's family, not his.
In YH, Young-joon wanted to put the child (Ja-min? nsheldon, help!) on his register, but Sang-min, the father, stopped him, although he eventually gave up his rights, and Young-joon completed the registration.

Re: K-Drama: 하늘만큼 땅만큼 (As Much As Heaven and Earth/High as the Sky, Wide as the Earth)
class p M-Ja - Maybe she's holding off the surgery hoping LB will come home soon. Not only will he be blamed by Grams for delaying the surgery, but she will blame him for the growth itself—all the stress he has caused M-Ja has caused her medical problem.
LB - No matter what, he will never be viewed as 100% family by Grams, Bubs, and Groomie. As M-Ja said before, LB has no place on this earth that is "home" for him. I think that's why he must find his bio-mom. He at least needs to know where he came from, what his genetic line is. Who knows what will come of meeting his bio-mom, but it will enable him to "know" who he is and feel more rooted in life than where he is psychologically at present. Then he will be able to return to the Kims and be comfortable in the relationship he has with M-Ja and Taesik. He'll also be able to take Grams with a grain of salt and just let it be—whether Grams comes around to accepting him or not.
LB and Eunha? I don't think so. Since this is such a long drama, there will be a lot to happen, but in the end I think it will be LB and Jisu.
Eunha - I don't care for her—plain and simple. I think her character is written as one who has genetic propensity for mental instability. (That has nothing to do with my dislike of this character. If anything, it makes me cut her more slack than I would if she weren't so unstable.) Her behavior cannot be placed solely at the feet of her mother. Otherwise, Eunju would have the same mental and "fragility" problems as Eunha. The difference isn't environment, it is the genetic propensity. (Just as there is a genetic factor in various cancers, so also there is one in some mental disorders, such as schizophrenia.)
Speaking of Mom, how can we be so hard on her and not on Eunha? Who was RM when she was growing up? I'll bet she was 10xs cuter than Eunha and a very sweet girl, too. What was her rich mother and environment like? Perhaps the visual of young and cute is more likeable and forgiveable than old and wrinkled—especially to men.
Putting all that aside, I simply find Eunha to be an annoying person. She can be very cute and sweet. So can RM. But there is a nasty side to Eunha, too, all on her own. When in crisis, a person's character is revealed. When in crisis, Eunha calls Jisu a liar, tells her to stay out of LB's life, makes her promise to never "like" LB, plays guilt games with everybody to get what she wants. It was particularly cruel (and self-dilusional) to tell Jisu that she could never love LB the way she (EH) does... that only she (EH) will loyally stand by LB forever.
True, some behaviors are caused by age immaturity. But the basics of Eunha's behaviors are established characteristics of her personality. As life progresses, our undesirable aspects usually either exaggerate or we get them in hand and improve ourselves.
TG & Prof - I agree that TG will make nearly any sacrifice to please Prof—including a bare-bones wedding—and decide to be happy about it. She does that by not allowing herself to think about what she truly would like. I think she would prefer more. Not a lavish, splashy wedding, but one including friends and co-workers. She is a new bride, after all, having waited many years for this special day. The saddest part is that she is being negatively controlled by Miae's poisonous maneuverings rather than positively deciding based on what is truly in her own heart.
Prof - Yep, I've become increasingly annoyed with him, too. He's friendly, warm, and affectionate. But he doesn't understand women. And that makes him blind to both TG's needs and to Miae's evil machinations. Additionally, he suffers from that too common K-drama male malady, ABOSP (Arrogance By Reason of Outside Plumbing).
Jaedu & RM - I'm glad to see that Jaedu deeply loves his wife. Which reminds me of how upset she was over his cellphone ID for her: "Home." If the meaning is the same in English, I would love to be known as "home" to my man. Seems an ultimate compliment to me.
My heart does go out to RM in many ways. She has created her own living loneliness 'hell,' but she doesn't understand that. Yet. She does not see herself and her actions objectively. She lives out the life she knows and understands. I only hope that one of these days she can chip away the ice and warm up to Jaedu. They could have a wonderfully warm and caring life together. I think they will as the story progresses.
Miae - Saving the best for last. Looking at her face has bugged me since she appeared. Finally, I put my finger on who she reminds me of...
The Creature from the Black Lagoon (I think it's the lips. )

K-Drama: 하늘만큼 땅만큼 (As Much As Heaven and Earth/High as the Sky, Wide as the Earth)
ABOSP (Arrogance by reason of outside plumbing)? Is it what I understand it to be - ahem? Because if it is (as vs inside plumbing for a woman?) I think I have just died laughing. That's HILARIOUS!!!!!!!! I have never heard of such a concept, but probably it appllies beautifully to a lot of men....
You know what, plumbing or not, I would like to see a kiss there sometimes.. what the heck, they are engaged. Even by korean standards in 2007, that should happen. Gukwa and Yunhu got to kiss each other on ep 100 and there were certainly not engaged, it was not even in their radar...

Re: K-Drama: 하늘만큼 땅만큼 (As Much As Heaven and Earth/High as the Sky, Wide as the Earth)
Some character deserve a lot of slapping on tonite's episode. I would put M-ja first in line. I guess she is being selfish; not even thinking that her decision would be putting LB in more awkward situation. TG had mentioned this to her - that her decision would be so mean on LB; LB would be next in line for the slapping session. He should at least call his parents, no matter what; then Jisu - didn't even ask the guy on the phone their location; she could have made it easier for everyone to locate LB.
I would give Groomie a big hug if I was there - I felt so sorry for him.
The biggest revelation on tonite's episode - MGrams. I wonder how M-ja would take it. And Myeongtae?
BTW, on tonite's episode, a lively and ever smiling "Eunju" was a guest. What a change - she looked so pretty when she is laughing and joking around.

Re: K-Drama: 하늘만큼 땅만큼 (As Much As Heaven and Earth/High as the Sky, Wide as the Earth)
LB has witnessed his mom and uncles' bio mother return to establish a relationship with them and she has been portrayed as a caring, wise, compassionate woman but I fear that if and when LB finds his bio mom, she won't have the same character traits and good qualities and that will be very sad.
LB is carrying around too much baggage at the present time to even consider a "love" relationship with anyone but I can completely understand and accept his deep connection with Jisu. She appears to be the best person for him right now and whether they are friends or boyfriend/girlfriend, they have a connection that can't always be easily explained. I think Jisu treats him more like a "man in process" which is a good thing and not like a "little boy" that needs nurturing like Eunha does.

Re: K-Drama: 하늘만큼 땅만큼 (As Much As Heaven and Earth/High as the Sky, Wide as the Earth)
Nchristi.... All I can say is you sure have a way with word!!! You need to write a book!!
I also don't care for Eunha but had trouble explaining exactly WHY. She has such a sweetness and innocence about her. But nchristi explained my reason... She IS manipulative. She has a lot of her mother's traits in her. She was very cruel to Jisu for no reason. Eunha comes along and tries to make Jisu feel guilty over her long term friendship with LB. Eunha doesn't share friends. Actually, LB and Jisu are Eunha's only friends. SHe should cherish them both!!
I think Groomie felt jealous, and rightfully so, when M-ja refused to get the surgery until she can lay eyes on LB again. That had to hurt. SHe does have TWO SONS!! ANd with the 1% chance of a problem, she is being incredibly unreasonable. Yes, LB will be blamed for the growth (he caused her undue stress) and he will be blamed for it getting bigger because of M-ja's refusal to have the surgery. She's being unfair and I thing Groomie has every right to be hurt by what she's doing. I can understand his being jealous of LB and being angry with him.
But, I think Groomie DOES see LB as his brother. He is just so frustrated with him because LB has so much power over their parents. LB is the one that can bring M-ja to tears. LB is the one that M-ja has to worry about. LB is the one that gets M-ja's attention. But I still think Groomie loves LB as his brother. I think he is angry that LB's actions cause pain to their mother.
That drove me INSANE last nite when the friends was running around at the station looking for LB. I kept yelling at him, "THERE HE IS. LOOK UP YOU IDIOT, LOOK UP!"

If Yes…..
If No……
