K-Drama: 하늘만큼 땅만큼 (As Much As Heaven and Earth/High as the Sky, Wide as the Earth)
hi nsheldon thanks for the kind words. The difficulty I am having with this board is that I am between 5 and 7 eps ahead which makes me difficult not to give out spoilers - it is hard for me to remember what's ok and not ok to say, so I am only coming to this board infrequently now, but I still need to check because when I check Soompi they are -it seems- 40 eps ahead, which is too much..
I have to put in my 5 cents though regarding this drama. I enjoy TG and Prof a lot- I can smell steaminess under that seemingly totally peaceful relationship, me and my Italian blood again.. anyway I like them a lot and wish them good luck
Sorry to anger some people, guys, but I find the LB-Jisu relationship and problems related to it boring. I don't see any sparks there, apart from friendship, so it is hard for me to accept that LB loves JS as a woman, and I dont see that in JS either. Also, unless LB finds himself soon and decides what he wants to do, I dont see this going anywhere.. I mean JS has a career, a job etc... whereas LB is still playing a surly (justified , I understand) teenager role .. but I mean, he has been to the Army and back, had a chance to prepare for college.. disappearing is very "teenager", it is time for him to grow up quickly,,
I dont like Miae's role but I like the actress a lot, I have seen her in KBS Snow Flakes (Sibong) and she was lovely there as Sunha's friend.
I also likeSangeon a lot, both as an actor and in his role. i am convinced that they will get back together. I can already see the seeds of a change in Eunji (I should shut my mouth here- spoilers!!). I hope also that the character changes here just because her acting is so uniform - temper tantrums and sour faces all along get tiring after a while.
I like Eunha - she also has growing up to do but she has a refreshing angle on things.
Their mother- boy I would hate to be the actress who has to portray that. I have met women like that and they are terrifying and totally unaware of what they are doing. My anger is reserved for her husband, Jaedu, who is a total putty in her hands or has been-- what a life to choose.. I have absolutely no respect for him!!
There, I am done. I am coming down from my soapbox... Boy this is my fourth KDrama in five months (PIH was my first, then Sun Flakes, Full House, and now this). I am getting really knowledgeable!! You know the funniest thing!! I met this korean lady (where I live believe me there are not many or at least I dont think so) who came here as a teenager from Seoul, very higly educated family etc, and has absolutely no interest to discuss korean culture with me.. her kids dont know a word of it and the family has never been there.. the only thing she does is food. I guess that you cant take it away from a korean!! Anyway quite disappointing. I mean, why would I not want to talk about my original culturet ( I grew up in Italy and then left ()lived in two other countries before I came to the US, too) when I was twenty? I know I am multicultural now but it seems that she is kind of almost ashamed of it? ?Can someone explain this? I also met a lady from Hong Kong through soccer acted more or less the same - totally focused on the present and not interested in discussing Hong Kong culture at all!!

Re: K-Drama: 하늘만큼 땅만큼 (As Much As Heaven and Earth/High as the Sky, Wide as the Earth)
Although I'M quite certain that the Jisu/LB relationship will become the focal point of this drama, I find my self agreeing with italiansoul (welcome back!) on a few points. As you all know by now, I like Eunha and hope that things will get better for her although I believe that LB is adding so much to her confusion just by being her friend (She's obviously gaga over him, but is far too attractive to stay "dying on the vine" for to long. Are the rest of those guys in Seoul blind, or what?) without actually telling her what she already knows to be the truth. Jisu and LB are meant to be together, much like SY thought that she and Junhu were before the angel of Yanbien came to town in the previous series. This one is real though as both are on the same page even though Jisu is a bit slow in the uptake regarding the matter. LB needs to take the fast train home, throw a few peebles up to her window in the middle of the night, and claim his prize in no uncertain terms. Dad is already cool with the deal and anyone whose opinion really matters wants only what is best for both of them. That being each other.
We'll try the rest of them on a case by case basis. The two kids, and the Professor & TG are the types of couples that end up having the kind beautiful, fulfilling relationships that make it safe for the rest of us to walk the streets. I fully support both of these unions.

Does anybody has my feeling about RM - she talk so slow, no energy, I don't know if she supposed to be lay back or just boring charactor, also the voice very low too. She is the most annoying one of the whole drama, I rather take grams, or bub, at least they are live!
I don't know why LB has to move out, the one has to leave is Bub, he is a big month free loader, he should be get kick out by everyone in the family.

Re: K-Drama: 하늘만큼 땅만큼 (As Much As Heaven and Earth/High as the Sky, Wide as the Earth)
class p Episode 45 (Wednesday) - Deleted Scenes
Jisu learns about LB and runs out of the building... class ul Outside, Eunha is entering/leaving a next-door building and runs up to Jisu. Eunha asks some questions but it looks like Jisu doesn't want to say much. Eunha gets a negative look on her face... can't tell if she's irked about Jisu looking for LB, or what. (?)
Jisu runs to the playground looking for him. She sits where they last met and talks to him in her mind.
Over at the academy, Eunha walks out of class and calls LB in the hallway. She gets a recording. Next she calls Groomie and cries on his shoulder. He tries to encourage her; they end the call. Groomie sends LB a text message. class center *****RM takes lunch to Jaedu's office... class ul An underling (man) of some sort is there; they briefly talk; Jaedu enters, the other guy leaves. Jaedu and RM have their usual phoney sweet conversation with a certain rage immediately beneath the honey layer. RM's expression turns bad and she leaves.
RM is meeting three university wives (from the official party she attended with Jaedu last week) for lunch. Looks as though one of them asks about Eunju's marriage. RM is uncomfortable but deflects the question. Then the head honcho's wife starts talking about something... maybe someone else's divorce (?) and RM looks down in discomfort. She tries again to divert the conversation but the ladies won't let it die. (Don't know if they know about Groomie and Eunju or if the topic is just too close to home and being criticized by RM's elite social set. ?)
RM returns home and is upset over what happened at lunch. She starts to cry and sighs heavily. (Oh, what will they all think of RM's reputation when they hear about Eunju and Groomie...) class center *****Prof and TG drinking beer in restaurant.... class ul Both of them are reading business reports. (Are they somehow connected in business? Looks like duplicate reports of the same thing.) Prof closes his portfolio and doesn't like something. They begin arguing. TG tries to make peace but he is more stubborn. She humbles herself and he laughs. (?) class center *****After work, in the darkness, Jisu returns to the park... class ul As she sits in a swing, she hears LB call to her. She looks up to see him. As she rises to go to him, she doesn't see him... Is he hiding? It is her imagination. She calls him and leaves a voice message to come play... class center *****

K-Drama: 하늘만큼 땅만큼 (As Much As Heaven and Earth/High as the Sky, Wide as the Earth)
I find that interesting about LB "running away." When you're a child, you run away.
When you're 24 years old, you leave home.
Granted, he didn't tell anyone he was leaving and he has no means of support, but still, he's a 24 year old man.
I know a few people in their twentys who left home for one reason or another and no one has ever called it running away.
I think the best thing he could do for himself is to leave. His mother and dad are the best but they can't really shield him from Grams and crazy Bubs.
They, especially Bubs, insult him every time they see him. LB doesn't have to live like that. He couldn't even study in the house. What misery! The one I see as a loser is Bubs. I guess his wife couldn't stand him either.
M-ja has called and treated Grams like HER mother all these years but watching Gram's miserable actions towards LB, it's not okay that LB sees M-ja as HIS mother. There's no difference. Too bad TG hasn't told her that.
Maybe he's going to try to find his real mother eventually. Maybe he'll hook up with MGrams and she'll get a successful career going for him in the restaurant business.
That was a heartwretching scene with LB and Eunha when they were outside the school. He was really saying goodbye to her, they both had phones in their hands and he tells her to walk into school as he's talking to her. She starts to cry. That scene was so sad. I thought as I watched it that Eunha really loves him. LB looked sad for her. And later when she tells Jisu that he doesn't embarrass her at all. This looks like real love on her part...
I still want LB with Jisu. She needs to decide whether she just wants to stay as friends or decide if she can't live without him. If it's the latter, she will have to realize that she has to take it another step up and develop this relationship into something more than best friends.
He cares for her deeply and she just can't be "friends" with him any longer. She needs to wake up.

Re: K-Drama: 하늘만큼 땅만큼 (As Much As Heaven and Earth/High as the Sky, Wide as the Earth)
I was doing some research on Kim Il Woo (Bubs) and noticed in DramaWiki they call this drama "By Land and Sky." That's the best, short name I've come across for this one.
Kim Il Woo
I've seen him in four or more dramas and, of course, he has a lot of other acting roles under his belt. My favorite of what I have seen is his role in Super Rookie. He plays the director of the company. Of course, he's usually type cast as a bad guy, but in SR it is a broader role and it's nice to see him play a multi-faceted character for a change.
I, too, think he is a wonderful actor. That's why it is so easy to be so thoroughly disgusted with Bubs! He has the best evil, sarcastic laugh... I just want to reach into the screen and slap him up side the head!
Watching Grams and Bubs feeding each other last night, I remember thinking These two should just marry each other. I am always amazed at how Bubs is her favorite human on the planet... and he isn't even her son. It would seem that her natural daughter, TangoGirl, would be her favorite. But maybe it goes back to the old "sons are the best" routine. Then again, they are both two peas in a pod, each of them the most self-centered of people... guess they understand one another and both feed and support the other's haughty arrogance. A comfort zone no one else in the family creates for them.
Good point about "running away from home" and "leaving home," Jasy. I'm not bothered by LB's leaving this time. I see no reason for him to stay in that environment until they mash every last particle of spirit out of the poor guy. LB is fighting for his life. He left a letter for his mother. And he called home and Groomie. I don't consider that he's being all that irresponsible. At least the most important person in his "family" understands him... M-Ja.
Groomie - His temper is just too much. How stupid could he get when LB called. And what does he do? Try to make a bridge to LB, to encourage him to keep the lines of communication open? Noooooo.... he has to jump all over him for his "bad behavior." Well, Groomie reaped what he sowed—LB simply hung up. That's Groomie's loss.
