It is hard to get a guage on Eunhu. She is terribly cute and sweet, but is also clingy and insecure. It seems as if this is a girl who has trusted before only to be seriously taken advantage of and let down. She hasn't lost here love for people, but is in constant need of reassurence from those that she loves. I fear that the really bad times are ahead as she is so smitten with LB who has a heart for Jisu, and those two share a destiny that will no doubt begin to play itself out in the upcoming episodes. Seems like we're going to see this sweet girl become blinded with jealousy and hurt, much like Sy when Yunhu fell for Gukwha in PIH. It will take time and someone who really cares for her before she'll become transformed into the swan that I believe she really is.

Let's just hope that we get to see her rewarded before our own eyes and that the writers don't pull another one of those hurried conclusions like the one deprived us of seeing that happy ending that we all wished for the beautiful and long-suffering Shinhyeong.

The characters in this drama are all broken-hearted - some are really annoying. The only characters I want to watch are TG and the Prof, and Jisu and LB. I wonder when LB is going to have the guts to say something serious to Jisu.

The Eunha character is quite annoying - like what you guys said, too clingy - which makes me worry a little bit about LB.

I've never seen a sincere smile on Eunju's face - she's always frowning; and the mother ---- can't seem to put the right description to her character.

I like the Jaedu (the father) role. Right on! End it if you are not happy! But looks like Sangyeon is having second thoughts. I hope not - especially now that Eunju has made up her mind.

With two many twists, I wonder if it is worth watching regularly.

Episode 34 (Tuesday) - Deleted Scenes

LB gets up early and tries to sneak out of the apartment....
M-Ja catches him, wants to know what's going on. He gives a phoney answer and quickly leaves.

Next we see him in the diner, rapidly mopping the floor, the chairs still on top of the tables before opening for business. He looks at the clock and calls Groomie, who answers. LB asks him about moving out. Groomie asks if Mom & Dad know; LB says "No." LB tries to reason with his older brother, who listens. Finally, Groomie says "I'm sorry" and ends the phone call.
*****

Back upstairs, the other Kim family members are eating breakfast in silence...
Grams looks at TG, who is barely eating. TG excuses herself and leaves the table. Grams follows TG into the bedroom. M-Grams makes an "aigoo" comment and Taesik says something serious, too.

Taesik turns his attention to Bubs, who isn't looking at anyone... just silently eating (after his family has disappeared from him in the States). Bubs is so deep in thought that he doesn't hear Taesik talking to him. Finally, Taesik raises his voice and Bubs "comes to." Looks like M-Ja and Taesik are asking him what's wrong. M-Grams pipes up and probably says he's worried about his family. At that, Bubs starts yelling at M-Grams.

In the bedroom, TG is putting on make-up for work. Grams stands behind her and calmly pleads with TG not to be so upset about everything. TG turns around to her and it looks like she's telling her mother to not worry, she isn't marrying Prof or anybody else and to just leave well enough alone. Grams starts yelling. TG starts yelling back. They say strong things to each other, back and forth. Finally TG leaves the room. Grams crumbles to the floor and begins crying.

M-Grams comes in and sits with Grams, trying to reason with her. Grams fights back but M-Grams comes on more heavy than usual with Grams. Grams turns away frustrated and beating on herself.

Bubs in his room continuing to call his daughter's phone number and getting the "no longer in service" message. He can't understand what's going on and is very upset.
*****

M-Grams and M-Ja in the kitchen cooking. M-Grams is making the soup and gives a taste of the broth to M-Ja. M-ja reaches in her apron pocket and takes out the envelope of money, trying to give it to M-Grams. Can't tell from the camera angle if M-Grams accepts it or not, but probably she does not accept it.
*****

At TG's office...
Jisu brings some hot tea to TG, which she appreciates. They talk and laugh together, but Jisu seems to be worried about TG and her dad.
*****

Midmorning, Grams is on her pillow thinking...
She hears M-Grams giving her advice. She flashes back to scenes of TG crying bitterly over her disappointment in not having Prof. She sits up fitfully and hears more words TG has cried out to Grams. Grams makes a decision. She leaves the apartment and runs into Bubs as he is coming home. She makes him join her in going to visit Prof at his work.

K-Drama: 하늘만큼 땅만큼 (As Much As Heaven and Earth/High as the Sky, Wide as the Earth)

Good Morning,

I'd like to welcome all the newcomers too. Please stay and write often, it's so nice to be able to talk to others with the same interests, K-dramas.

Bouncy knowles, I'm in NJ too and we see the show edited too. California get different scenes cut than we do, we get scenes cut out too. We have no commericals though.
The lucky K drama fans in Philly get the full uncut version.

Here, a few days late are your cut scenes from Episode 31 that you asked about...

LB What brings you here?
Jisu Can't I come? I came to see if your studying hard. I thought
you were just saying so, but you really are studying hard. Do
        you want some bread?
LB I'll get sleepy if I eat.
Jisu I brought it for you.
LB Then I'll eat some.
Jisu Here, drink some milk too.
LB It doesn't look like your coming from work. Why did you come?
Jisu I missed you.
LB We don't have that kind of relationship.
Jisu Don't you ever miss me?
LB Why should I miss someone who always nags? Well, I missed
you once in a while in the Army, but that's different.
Jisu You're going to ruin a friendship of 10 years. I was so worried
when you were in the Army, I worried when it was cold, hot
        or rainy.
LB I'm sure you worried when it snowed. Worrying is a habit. You'll
      get sick.
J You're mean. I was upset. Father's really mad.
LB So you ran away?
Jisu He's not mad at me. He's mad at himself. That hurts to see.
Everyone is pure when it comes to love. When young people
are in love, people say they're immature. And when old people
are in love, people say they're indecent. Dad must be so
        frustrated because of such biases.
LB He can't be as frustrated as someone who is in love, but can't
      say so.
Jisu You won't hurt if you don't say so.
LB That's true. You won't hurt if you keep it to yourself.
Jisu But that's cowardly. If you keep it to yorself, you'll lose the
chance to love that person. Dad could be honest about it
because M-Ju was honest about it. Dad would never have
been able to say it first. More people would be biased toward
        him.
LB You could write a thesis on love, you shound like a pro.
Jisu I'm not kidding. I want it to work out for them. I want them to
        be happy.
LB I'm sorry. I want it to work too.
Jisu I'll be going. Study hard.

Both get up:
LB Wait, I'll walk you home.
Jisu I can go by myself.
LB I won't be able to study if you go by yourself. Let's go.

Both walking...
Jisu Muyeong, I'm glad I have you.
LB Why?
Jisu I can see you like this when I want.
LB What's wrong with you? People will think we're dating.
Jisu nudges him...
Jisu I'm serious
LB I might misunderstand and think that you really like me.
Jisu That's no misunderstanding. I really like you a lot.
LB Thank you for liking me so much. Is that what you thought I'd
      say?
Jisu Forget it. You have a girlfriend.

He stops walking...
LB Is it fun to tease me?
Jisu What?
LB You're always teasing me about Eunha. Why do I have to keep
      making excuses?
Jisu Then don't make excuses. I didn't say anything.
LB Children throw stones at a frog for fun, but it really hurts the
      frog.
Jisu (laughing) Don't exaggerate like that.
LB (serious) Whatever. I don't like it when you do that.
He walks on...
Jisu Okay, I won't. Is it that upsetting?
He doesn't answer...
Jisu I guess I can't joke around with you.
LB Right, don't. Don't joke about my feelings. I like someone else,
not Eunha. It hurts everytime you tease me about Eunha.
(Jisu looks concerned)
Jisu I'm sorry, I didn't know. I'll be careful.

I guess they reach her house now, she says
Go on...
LB Okay, bye. (he just walks away)
She calls him two times but he keeps walking, never looks back.
Jisu (to herself) He must really be mad.

Bridie in shower, Groomie at computer, her phone rings, he reads message:
Did you get home alright? Dayeong. (another message) Are you really going to go skiing? I'm going to make reservatins. Don't change your mind later. She comes out of shower, he looks at her.
Bridie What?
Groomie Did you meet Dayeong today? You weren't late because
           of work?
B I was late because of work. I only saw her for a minute..
He stares at her.
B It's true, why are you checking my phone? grabs phone from him.
G I didn't mean to. It was an urgent message. You had time to
make plans to go skiing but couldn't come to my parents? I didn't
even call because I didn't want to burden you. I hope you'd come
even if you were late. I hope you'd at least call.
B We left the place at 9 and I thought I should go, but I really
didn't want to. I was too tired to go and pretend to be a nice
daughter in law. I don't want to be forced to fulfill duties like that.
    That's why I didn't go.
he sighs...
B This isn't what I thought marriage would be. It was the first time
I met Dayeong. I only thought of you all the time.
he looks away...
B What kind of life is this? I can't even meet friends or go skiing.
I'm doing my best, but we keep fighting.
G Okay, lets not waste anymore time. It won't work with efforts.
    We should end it here.
walks to closet...Later scene shows him with suitcase with RM. He leaves, RM goes to Bridie and RM is angry.

I cannot stand Bridie! She is a ugly, thoughtless mean person. Her motto must be Me! Me! Me!
Groomie seems to be a man of few words. He has put up with so much crap from her, and he still wanted to try and give her the benifit of the doubt. He could do sooo much better.

Re: K-Drama: 하늘만큼 땅만큼 (As Much As Heaven and Earth/High as the Sky, Wide as the Earth)

RM is just too much! I can't believe she meets Groomie, demanding he come 'home' that night. Then goes to her car and bad mouths him (again).

But I can tell that Groomie does still love Eunju. These two will eventually get back together. Too bad because she is so nasty that she is poison to Groomie. She has the most hateful, mean, pouty look on her face ALL THE TIME. When Groomie was thinking of her (when she was dancing around acting flirty) he really acted like he missed her. I just cannot understand what he sees in this woman!

SHOCK: Grams told Prof to get a physical and if all is ok she's gonna approve? Where the heck did that come from? I guess Grams isn't as bad as she seemed. I think she does love all those kids but she just wants what SHE thinks is best for them... I can appreciate that. I'm glad she came around though.

Problem is, will it matter? Prof already told Sonny that he wouldn't marry TG. Is he gonna stick to that? He seemed so pleased after Grams talked to him that I think he really will go get a physical.. Will he marry TG even against Sonny's wishes? He could. He should. But will he?

I'm scared that LB will truly be LOST into EUnja's web if he doesn't distance himself from her. I just don't feel comfortable with LB and Eunja as a couple. He seems so much more suited to Jisu... Oh well, we have a long way to go. I could change my mind later and decide I love Eunja and LB together (but I doubt it)..

You know, I'm not a big fan of Bubs but I think it is horrible that his wife has 'disappeared' like that. He still is the father to her children. How could she cut him off from even communicating with those kids? I feel sorry for Bubs. He's selfish and greedy but he's not totally bad. He seems to have a great deal of affection for TG and Grams. And he did try to stick up for the Prof to Grams..

Re: K-Drama: 하늘만큼 땅만큼 (As Much As Heaven and Earth/High as the Sky, Wide as the Earth)

What we never got to see much of is the unhappy couple before they became the unhappy couple. In the other flashback scene, we got to witness Eunju smiling and happy as she surprised her man at the bus stop. They did enjoy a loving courtship and will eventually grow together when the time is right. Dad's snap decision to have his daughter end things appears to be a ploy to call his daughter's bluff so that she can really examine things and come to a decision on her own. Mom's way is no help as her daughter wishes to be so fiercely independent. Dad is removing the "training wheels" so that his daughter will come to the eventual conclusion without anyone enabling or spinning the process to suit themselves. He, like the cool guy that is married to adopted daughter (arrrggghh, all of these names that are nearly the same!?!?) shows great compassion and wisdom. It's amazing how some of these kids turn out to be so selfish when their paternal influence seems to be so stable.

Adopted daughter and her husband are another great couple. She loves and admires him for the genuinely gracious person that he is. Part of her wants to reach for the brass ring and part of her knows that she already has it in her grasp.

That 'missing' conversation between LB and Jisu that Jasy provided is just so frustrating to hear. LB is going crazy because he loves his best friend so much and feels inadaquite. (He can also see the "brass ring", but fears what may happen if he reaches for it.) He's so balled up with his hidden feeling that he sometimes says things that cause hurt to Jisu, who wants only what will make him friend happy. Little does she know....

I agree that Groomie and Eunju will probably get back together again. Why does she treat him like that? He loves her, he is really a laid back kind of guy, she is so mean and spoiled.

I cannot stand Grams, is she gonna spend her life in that bedroom? Gee, she reminds me of the mother in PIH. Who brought these women up anyway? They're like a bunch of babies. Poor TG and Prof.
Why does TG live with all these people anyway? I know it's her place, but enough of this commotion already. Just because Grams thinks she screwed up her life, why does TG have to suffer for it?

Bubs was in Farewell To Tears, playing a good, nice doctor of a rich wife who controlled him with her family's money. He finally left her to go live with his brothers and family to teach her a lesson, to make her step down a few pegs in life.

I just love watching LB, Jisu, Prof and TG. Eunha is okay, but very young and needy of love I think, so she latches on to a cute looking guy. LB better watch out!

Hello Family emoticon

I think I get this drama unedited and a few episodes ahead on my cable channel. Last night's episode on my regualar channel here in NY was definitely cut. I'd seen it last week and was surprised at all that was missing. On cable its about 40-45 minutes. I'm going to time it tonight and figure out what episode they're on. On regular channel its 28 minutes without interruption.

Bubs was also the crooked, slimy brother in Something Happened in Bali. He plays a good creepy guy.

Later emoticon

Re: K-Drama: 하늘만큼 땅만큼 (As Much As Heaven and Earth/High as the Sky, Wide as the Earth)

THANK YOU, Jasy, for filling in the blanks. So much is contained in those conversations... I couldn't believe it. Seems like Jisu is getting dangerously close to having her feelings for LB bubble to the surface and spill over!

What a shock that Grams gave in! I couldn't believe that, either. I thought we were going to have to suffer through her childish fits for a long time. Jiung and Miae are another kettle of fish, though. Maybe they SHOULD move in with Prof, TG, and Jisu. Nothing like all that closeness to break down that selfish son and his scheming, greedy wife. After all, it is the first son's duty to take care of his parents (including TG) until they die!

I don't care for Eunju much but I did take a different look at her the other night. She is an incredibly self-centered person, but that fault is squarely at the feet of RichMom. She spoiled Bridey and even when she was talking with Groomie in the restaurant, she told him she would take care of Eunju completely as long as she (RM) lives.

The girl doesn't have much of a chance unless Dad bumps RM out of the ****pit. [Note: The board's obscenity filter—for those who have it turned on—will censor that last word, so let me use "pilot cabin" as reference. emoticon] Which he seems more and more able to do these days. I had to laugh at RM's reaction when she learned her husband had met Groomie unbeknownst to her. She acted like Jaedu had just violated her, or something. How dare he have ANYTHING to do with the family without her permission.

Back to Bridey, though, there are glimmers of hope for her now and again. She's being asked to live a life that is 180 degrees different from how she's spent her entire life. That's not an easy adjustment to make. It takes a lot of time and is a slow process. The children issue is especially disturbing. Unless Bridey eventually comes to where she desires a child, it is a terrible and unfair demand of a woman (or a man, for that matter) who definitely does not want children in her marriage. Having a child under those circumstances could be disastrous for the child and the marriage.

Poor Bubs seems to be a neer-do-well. His wife probably sees him as a liability and is taking her chance to be rid of him in the quickest, easiest manner for her. I don't recall exactly how the family got split up, but my faint recollection is the plan was to educate the girls in the States and Bubs was to follow when he finished his trade school (tailoring?). My first reaction to Taesik and M-Ja wanting to give Bubs the $10K was they can kiss it good-bye if they do. People like Bubs will blow that $10K in the blink of an eye.

Oh, before I forget, I must comment on Prof and TG at the museum and walking outside. That guy just makes me melt. They both do. What a wonderful couple they make, each bringing to the other what the other lacks. She so spices up his life and brings him joy, while he has that warm, calm manner in handling a crisis and giving her stability. I thought it especially appropriate when they were leaving the museum sculpture garden that the camera pulled back and in the foreground we saw a metal sculpture of two people pushing the weight of the world, it seemed.

class p Episode 35 (Wednesday) - Deleted Scenes

The KBS VOD is not working for this episode. I'll check again tomorrow and post here if it is available then. If not, we'll have to move on to the next episode.

I did notice in the brief preview clip for tonight's episode that there is a scene where LB goes to see Groomie in his hotel room. The previews also showed Bridey (in anger/frustration) in her room taking down the wedding portrait and dragging out all of Groomie's things while RM is holding her head in frustration. All of that was cut and we saw only later when Bridey was sitting on the edge of her bed with the green box on the floor, telling her mom to have it sent to Groomie.
