old schooler, I don't think she was in YH. Ja-young's grandmother (who I just loved in that one) was Kang Boo ja. Haven't seen her for awhile. I have seen Han Bong Ryeo is several things, but can't remember which ones. She has often played the mean part!

I got tired of both the bride and groom last night--they both had good reason to be upset, but they sure don't know how to compromise. "my way or the highway"

I can understand why the bride doesn't want to talk about her family. Good grief, mom and pop seem like, what, two people living on different coasts? I really didn't know they were married in that first episode, so no wonder the bride isn't all that interested. Groomy fellow needs to learn about that and get a little understanding, and she sure needs to grow up. The other story lines seem more interesting.

 emoticon

Anyong Hasaeyo!

Smoochie: Amen to you! emoticon

Trying to decide if I'll go stick my foot and test the water or dive right in. But I see a lot of familiar faces and friendly posters, so here I go "splash" emoticon

First the grandma with the perm: She was the mean MIL in One M Roses. I hated her then. Would I like her now? She seems to have a mysterious personality about her. She was the anonymous donor of $1000 check to the groom. What is the relationship? I guess she was a long lost grandma. In the 2nd epis. Park Myeong Ja, the chatty elder lady at the senior citizens' clubhouse, talked about her grandson getting married and this mysterious grandma seems interested. I predict these two grandmas will be two opposing forces in this drama.

The handsome groom: I liked him a lot in "Sweet Spy" but, like Pali said, he didn't get the girl at the end. Here, he's got the girl in the beginning, but will it last? That bride of his is a carbon copy of "Milchil" from ICP. The bride's sister is completely opposite.

The good-looking Professor, Seok Jong Hoon, was in Seoul 1945 and 1M Roses and the lady he was married to in 1M Roses is here too. It looks like these two will be a romantic couple but it will probably take more than 50 episodes before they'll get it together.

Seok Jisu, the younger leading lady and love interest of Hanam...........oops, that's Chill Princess....... I mean Jeong Mu Yeong? In the second episode, there was a young man who is interested in Jisu but he was not listed in the summary of characters on page 1 of this thread. Will he last 1 or 2 episodes only or is he the love triangle?

Aaah, so intriguing, but I have not seen a character that I can fall in love with like Suky in BB. I like Sang Hyeon but he's already married. There might not be a scene of him falling in love with someone. Even if he does, I don't condone a divorce or separation. I'm a til-death-do-us-part person. emoticon

Well, I can see a long, uphill-downhill road ahead. However, I'm anticipating a wayside respite of romance, humour and heart-warming drama.

I hope all the posters and silent readers will be open-minded, tolerant and respectful. Sometimes, in an open conversation like this, I might blurt out some words that, to some are offensive, just point right at me and I will edit right away. But I will promise you, I will be extra careful. I believe in "honesty is the best policy". However, it is not enjoyable to "always tiptoe in the tulips".

Happy watching everyone! emoticon

Worse yet, they mentioned they dated for 1-1/2 years. Like his SIL said to him - love is blind - LOL, I yelled that to him early on when he said his wife is a different person. class blockquote nsheldon wrote:

WOW, I didn't recognize her until you mentioned it. I'm thinking/guessing she has something to do with Jeong. class blockquote hyena wrote:

LOL - I had the same reaction. Wanted to see if it was the same door.

Which reminds me..... I never got the chance to ask in PIH....... why was it okay to wear shoes in G's kitchen, they didn't take them off until they went into the other room.

=====================
I enjoy dramas when there are a lot of characters to follow. It makes it seem more normal to real life, where people interact with others than just their relatives.

I think the actor in 1M Roses you are referring to is not the same guy. The guy you are referring to was in My Sweet Heart/My Darling and Seodongyo. I think his name is Lee Chang Hoon. The lady he was married to in 1M Roses is indeed having romantic interest with the good-looking professor, Seok Jong Hoon, here.

I think it is because her "kitchen" was more of a utility room and not considered her room proper. Inside the sliding door was where she "lived," the heat was in the floor and the floor surface would always be kept clean there. In times past and still in some older rural areas, the cooking area is separate from the living quarters. The heat was piped in from the fires in the cooking area to heat the living quarters.

Episode 2 (Fri) - Deleted Scenes class ul
The groom's family owns a very modest restaurant having only a small handful of tables. The scene opens with Myungju (groom's mom) wiping tables. In comes her husband, Taesik. She is still morose and very depressed/angry. She mumbles something to him, then goes to the phone. She starts to dial, then hangs up. My guess is she's calling Muyoung (baseball cap) since she's so upset that he didn't attend his brother's wedding. She really gets worked up. Her husband tries to reason with her and she begins to cry.

In walks Sunim (older woman excited about the money after the wedding) and Myungju leaves the room. Sunim starts yelling at her, she comes back out and they have a big argument. Looks like Sunim is telling the younger woman to get over it already and shape up.

Myuongtae (the 45 year old step-son of Sunim) enters the restaurant. He complains of something about his hand and Sunim babies him, which annoys Myungju (groom's mom). It appears that Sunim spoils and favors Myungtae.
This seems to be the only deleted scene (it was quite lengthy).

Hello Family emoticon

Here we go again!! A whole new drama to watch. emoticon

We on the east coast get the first episode on Monday. I'm looking forward to it. A new list of characters to love and hate. All new people to root for. I can't wait. emoticon

I was glad to see PIH end. I watched it on tape and fast forwarded to scenes of Gukhwa and Yunhu and the Parks. The rest of it left me cold. And, I mainly watched it for Yunhu's dimples.

Well, I will do the same, let's check out this show monday night in east coast.
So glad the show finished without any people died.
I also could not stand SC or some other characters, so every time they are on, i remove my glasses, when YH and G on, I put on and make sure I checked out YH's cut dimples!
I also has taped it, I could rewatch the best scenes

I hope this show would be good, specially you guys said a lot of handsome guys there, Ha, Ha!

Looks like this is going to be an interesting drama to watch. Some twists already with 3 episodes gone. Just wondering why the bf-to-be of Jisoo was never introduced - nor was his picture in the introduction at all. Conversations and dialogues from last nite's episode revealed something already.

I wondered if I had seen Han Bong Ryeo in Yellow Handkerchief, but Hyena says the actress played the mean MIL in One Million Roses.

Hyena, I think you are right. I remember seeing her in that one. Thanks!

This actress is already mysterious in this drama, and I suspect will appear to be a woman out for no good, but I am going to make an early prediction; she will turn out to be a long lost relative trying infiltrate the community to find someone meaningful to her. Why? I dunno. But in the meantime, she's going to be slightly strange and secretive. I like secretive. Image

Unfortunately, I don't expect the humor of Bizarre Bunch Or Pure In Heart this time around, but I think I'm already up for this drama.

Someone's going to have to come up with a shorter name for this one though, or we'll all get writer's cramp typing "As Much as Heaven and Earth/High as the Sky, Wide as the Earth" every time. Even the acronyms for either title would be long - AMAHAE/HATSWATE ? Image

No, that just won't work.

Yoon Hae young's character was married to Lee Chang hoon in both This is Love (Kim Ja ok was her mother in that one, and the actress who played Mrs P in PIH was LCH's mother), and in OMR. They were a much more compelling couple in This is Love--she'd had a child out of wedlock, but he wanted to marry her anyway and adopt her son. In that one, his mother kicked YHY out of the house when she found out YHY had already had a baby (who was living at the girl's mother's home). Oh, yeah, YHY's father in that one was Mr. P! Small world. This is Love was about 6 nightly dramas before this one.

I'm going to use HAE--Heaven and Earth. That's enough of all those words.

PS I have a terrible time with the actors' names, because the Romanized spelling can be different, so if I get someone wrong, my apologies. I try to check koreanwiz.org before I start writing something, but I forget sometimes.

Re: K-Drama: 하늘만큼 땅만큼 (As Much As Heaven and Earth/High as the Sky, Wide as the Earth)

I just caught up on EP 1 ,and I have to say it is unusual to have a Kdrama BEGIN with a wedding !!

It is obvious the MIL's are both unhappy ,but I really liked the beautiful hamboks. The groom is very handsome- really liked him in Sweet Spy .

It was obvious that the brides aprents are separated ,yet living in the same house . It was funny when the wife started taking her hambok off ,and her husband came in ...I have heard that they are hard to put on = LOL .

We get to see a lot of characters with very little dialog - so I think that it will take a while to keep everyone straight .

Already feeling bad for the honeymoon couple- yikes .

I would have trouble going by myself to Kareoke unless I was very drunk emoticon

I will watch ep 2 before tomorrows ep ....but I have a question .Does anybody on this board get Dish Network ( and KBS America ??) What ep are you on ???
