Re: K-Drama: 하늘만큼 땅만큼 (As Much As Heaven and Earth/High as the Sky, Wide as the Earth)

What a beautiful day out. I took a walk this morning (in the rain) on my break. I really appreciate this rain. Then I walked across the street (again in the rain) for lunch. This afternoon I walked outside.. NO rain but what a beautiful sky... WOW..

I at first didn't think Jisu was particularly pretty and thought she had too many teeth. But I do think she is beautiful now. I love her smile. She does have that same 'natural' beauty that Gukwa had in PIH.

I wish Groomie would pack his bags and LEAVE that house! (I have a room all ready for him emoticon )

Robbo, I also cannot understand why TG mom would be so against her daughter marrying a successful Professor. His daughter Jisu is a doll and his son, though greedy, does run a successful restaurant. Seems like she'd be thrilled and just overlook her daughter being a 2nd wife. Heck, how bad was HER being a 2nd wife? She loved her husband and loved his two children. What's her problem?

Hey, did someone mention a Cafe' au lait or??? That sounds so good I just might have to stop on the way home!!

When RM came and butted in the conversation between Groomie and Bridey I knew Groomie would not leave. I'm screaming to Groomie no!, no! don't listen to RM! Get your stuff and run! (BTW it didn't look like he had that much stuff) Of course he didn't listen, but then that would've been to easy for a kdrama. He'll have to suffer a little more before he is rid of Bridey like Ilhan of Chil sisters.

I just finished Thurs episode = sometimes I am a day behind ...

I am still astounded by Myeonju's mom's reaction to the news about her engagement .The prof is an accomplished man with a a good job ,and he will provide for MyeungJu well .He can't help that he is a widower .

This may provide for a good story arc ,though .

I was surprised that Biomom went back to the sauna to sleep .
MyeongTae , I am sure ,is going to do something disgusting .Is he the one you call "bubs"??

I think that SangHyeong should have stood his ground ,but I was also dismayed that the RM was listening at the door and just charged right in .

The look that EunJu gave the sleeping Sanghyeong was a mixture of anger ,contempt ,disgust and rejection .If I was him ,I may not feel so comfortable sleeping around her. If she was so intent on another chance ,why the look ??

MuYoung may or may not realize it ,but I think he does love Jisu . Maybe now ,it is the warmest of friendships that may cross over to love with very little effort - which is the best kind - of course !!

I also think LB loves Jisu and have thought that way from the episode where he first carried Eunha, and Jisu came along, and the two of them (Jisu & LB) went off talking. He was talking about love or feelings and I knew it then.

Going into the movies with Eunha, he turned around twice to look at Jisu and then he was annoyed when Eunha shoved popcorn into his hands. I think he only thinks of her as a little sister, he's being some what of a companion for her. I think at one point there she told him she didn't have any friends.

He and Jisu are best friends, have probably always been there for each other, and he is most likely falling in love with her.
As for Jisu, she is going to realize she has some feelings there for him too. But I think she will step back for Eunha and LB is going to have a tough time getting together with her.

Jisu doesn't have a selfish bone in her body. She wants her dad to be happy and in love, unlike her selfish brother. She encouraged TG because she knew she has been in love with her dad for a long time. Jisu told her brother they are like family with TG. Might as well make it legal.

I think Jisu is the prettiest female in the whole show. I love her hairdo with the bangs. She's so cute and has a beautiful warm smile.

TG's mom is a pip alright. TG is so happy and is all smiles as she makes her announcement that she's getting married. Her mother threw that old maid word around a few times at her.
But TG gets the best of the best. She not only is getting married...but it's to someone she has loved for years! Can't get any better then that.

What does her mom do...ruins the moment. All of the happiness of the family goes right out the window. It's all about selfish mom's feelings now. I wonder who will be the first to put the headache band on?

I liked Jisu's remarks to her brother and sister in law about their dad marrying TG. And I liked how the Prof. said what he needed to say and just got up and walked out. At this point it doesn't look like he cares what his son thinks although he wishes he would happily accept his choice and be happy for him.

I doubt that Groomy will leave Bridey. But he should. I can't stand her. I do feel that Grams has been nasty to her right from the beginning though.

The first moment they walked in as Bride and Groom, Grams told her to go to the kitchen. I was surprised at that myself.
I've seen other shows where the Bride and Groom come in and bow and then they all sit around talking.

Anyway, I always have a problem with these meddling, nasty grandmas. But they are the boss in the house I understand, so there's not much you can do about it.
I think Bridey has met her match in Grams.

Jisu sure seems to be jealous, even though she doesn't understand that is what it is. She really thinks it's because LB is her best friend and he is focusing too much on Eunha instead of his studies.

And LB seems to be WANTING to let Jisu know that he is interested in Eunha. It's like he wants to make sure Jisu won't get the wrong idea about him and think he likes her. He is convinced he isn't good enough for Jisu so he wants to ensure she won't think he is.

TG and Prof have quickly become one of my favorite couples. I was so scared he would dump her after finding out her mother was against their marriage. BUt he is willing to hang in there until they get approval.

Can we send Bubs and Sonny Boy to the moon? These two are so incredibly greedy and selfish. Sonny Boy appears to be getting his orders from his wife. They must be afraid that the Prof would die one day and they wouldn't get their hands on his money. Bubs is just a 10 yr old boy in a man's body. What a moron!

I see M-grams is getting kinda tired of Grams' childish behavior. She probably thinks Bubs got his behavior from Grams. They sure do act like mother/son. M-grams is more like her daughter.

I think JiSu is just beginning her journey of discovery that she really cares for MuYoung as more than a friend . I think it will take a long time ,but we are just starting to see the symptoms now .

I think that MyuengTae is a "momma's boy and a brown noser" ,and I really want to heat the back story of why his family went to the States without him .Something is definitely missing here .

I am starting to see that there are direct parallels between the general attitudes towards orphans (LB) widowers ( the prof ) and second marriages of any kind .

It is aimed at the Korean audience ,I am sure ,but I am still finding it fascinating ,because it may still crop up here .

I have a story to tell that I found to be beyond amazing myself - and it really happened to me .

My elder brother adopted my sister in laws daughter .He has raised her since she was four years old .
Not long ago ,my neice was married in another state ,and I was present .During the reception ,a woman that I did not know ( nor did she know me ) came up and said " Tom " is just beaming with pride ,and I just found out that Mimi isn't really his daughter !!!!!!

My jaw almost hit the floor ,but I said : Tom is my brother ,and Mimi is my neice. In my family , we do not differenciate between those who are born into it ,and those who are not .

I guess I am sensitive on this issue .

What was the conversation, Jasy? That scene was deleted from the SoCal episode. Many of us would appreciate knowing what was said. Thx.

K-Drama: 하늘만큼 땅만큼 (As Much As Heaven and Earth/High as the Sky, Wide as the Earth)

Good Morning All,

nchristi, this is from episode 25, in the prof.'s living room:

son: Did you just say you want to marry Myeongju? (TG)

dad: You know her.

son: How can this be? How?

Daughter in law: Wasn't she a student of yours? How can you
           marry your student?

son: What will people say?

Jisu: What are you talking about? She's not a student anymore.

son: Quiet. Once a student always a student. (to Jisu)

(scene switches to TG at home getting much of the same treatment,
then back at Prof's.)

son: Reconsider - Why do you want to marry her? If you like her
just date her, nobody will stop you.

Jisu: Stop it.

Prof: How can you say that?

D-I-L: A lot of elderly people do that these days. It's popular.

Prof: You make me sound like I'm 70 years old. I don't want to
follow such trends. Is it so bad to want a family?

son: That's not it. We just don't want you to do anything to
complicate things. Think about after you die.

Jisu: Your so mean - even if he was going to die tomorrow, how
         can you say that?
Do you think it was an easy decision - It took him 20 years.
If you can't be happy for him - can't you at least understand?

son: I understand.

Jisu: Then don't say anything, just understand.

D-I-L: Who he's marrying is important. Why does it have to be
           Myeongju?

Jisu: Nobody could be better than her. She's like family to us.
Nobody could understand or love dad more than her.

Prof: That's enough Jisu.
(looking towards son) I never did anything to embarrass
          you before.

son: That's right.

Prof: If your gonna be embarrassed now, then that's too bad.

son: Father!

Prof: Go home now. (gets up and leaves room, looks sad)

son to Jisu: Didn't you hear what I said, you have the most to lose.

Jisu: Don't worry about me at all. I have to go to work. (looks at
them with a disgusted look as she gets up and leaves the
         room)
brother looks frustrated, and her sister in law looks much the same.

Sonny boy must be worrying about $$$$.
Jisu just wants her dad to be happy and not be alone.

Jasy, thank you so much for the dialogue. We saw the first section but the second part where he tells his son to go home was deleted.

I am so happy at his response, too. When I do the deleted scenes I can only guess what is being said by the body language I see. I feared that Prof was beginning to re-think whether or not to marry Tango Girl. How heartwarming to know that he has taken a firm stand. Of course, he is always kindly and polite, but it was very good news to see what he actually said in that conversation to his greedy, ultra-selfish son. (I hope Prof changes his will and leaves everything to TG and Jisu!)

Looks as though I've overlooked the Friday night deleted scenes, so I'll go take a look at that now....
