For me, this has always been a definite buy--I've been waiting for YA to announce a release, and I was in for a surprise when Tom also announced the release for Be Strong, Geum-soon. I don't buy a drama I don't like, and there's very few that I do like. class blockquote Creidesca: Is 'Be Stong Geum-Sepm' really better than Bizarre Bunch in your opinion? Do you know how many episodes Geum is?Be Strong, Geum-soon is the only daily drama so far that I faithfully watched, not missing an episode. What I liked about the drama was how realistic it was, and every piece of dialogue was meaningful. The male lead of the drama doesn't appear till ~15 epis later, and thank goodness, he's not the son of some company head nor does he work for his dad!
You may also want to ask merela for her opinion of Be Strong, Geum-soon too. I introduced the drama to her back when it was airing in Korea, and she fell in love with it.
The drama is 163 episodes (the final episode was 1hr long).

From last night's episode, can someone tell me more about Lacquered chicken? I looked it up on google but only found information on recipes. What I'm most curious about is what exactly is it and why can it make people sick, as it did with Nam Bong in last night's episode.to answer your question SuperRookie, I got this from another discussion board ( http://poisonivy.aesir.com/view/comments.html?func=showMessage&mid=105601&wid=279 ):
from Don H: class blockquote ...I live in korea and yesterday I ate "Otdak" (Lacquer Chicken) for the first and last time. Its stewed chicken, and it wasnt very tasty, but good. Anyway this morning I woke up covered in a "deep" red mega rash. It turns out "Otdak" is made with sap from the "Lacquer tree" which is a species of Toxicodendron... other species of these plants are named Poison-oak, Poison Sumac, Poison-ivy... couldn't believe it... So basically I ate something like "posion ivy chicken" yesterday. I hear it will take three days for the rash to pass. Glad it was nothing. But who in there right mind would use something like posion oak in a food dish!!? Word to the wise, don't eat poison anything. I will be drinking alot of Aloe today...

I bought a deluxe Malaysian verson of this (with pretty good subs) because of Eugene, before I knew of Lee Minki. I thought it was enjoyable to watch once, but I don't consider it one that I would watch over and over again (unlike some others in my collection). That said, I am recording it on my DVR, so when I get some spare time, I may watch it again.

Re: K-drama: 진짜 진짜 좋아해 (Really Really Like You) (AZN TV Channel)
Eugene pulled me in, but I was drawn to all of the characters. Indeed, Nam Bong-Ki's "mask" does get removed in a later episode and his true heart is revealed.
Though this one was formulamatic, (in the typical KDrama style) I've never let that get in the way of my enjoyment for anything that I've watched in this genre. For me, it's the characters (mainly the actors and actresses) that sell the product. As with most artforms, there tends to be a group of templates that are used to construct the product and the artist molds it through vision the of his or her own personality.
I've seen The Christmas Carol done in at least a dozen different productions, fully knowing how the story will end. It's never occured to me not to think that I may benefit by seeing it performed by someone new.
Although the endings of most KDramas are revealed in the opening episode, this one is special due to it's players. And they are some very special players.
