K-drama: 진짜 진짜 좋아해 (Really Really Like You)
CantGetEnough....My understanding Dementia is a term used for older people whose brain cells are blocked from sensation or deteriorating. Her illness could have caused brain damage, but dementia is not the term usually used for this occurrence. The reasons were not really explained, or I missed the explanation.

K-drama: 진짜 진짜 좋아해 (Really Really Like You)
When BS told BG he needed to find a new woman, it seemed like the perfect opportunity for him to go "I have. She is right in front of me." I wonder why he can't say anything to her about his feelings (I know, he killed his mother). As a shy person myself, I can attest to the fact that standing around hoping you will be noticed doesn't work very well. So why isn't anyone here bothered by his passivity?

My subtitles called it dementia as well. The nature of the illness is a fairly unimportant detail; just call it dramatic license. People also don't show the recovery that she has either. The wandering off is typical of Alzheimers though, I don't know about other types of dementia.

Just one quick question - how did the wife/mother become ill? She is too young for them to be talking about Dementia - I thought that was just for old people.I do remember a brief mention that she had suffered from "encephalitis."
From "MayoClinic.com":
Complications
Severe viral encephalitis can cause respiratory arrest, coma and death. It may also leave marked mental impairment, which can include loss of memory, the inability to speak coherently, lack of muscle coordination, paralysis, or hearing or vision defects.

Re: K-drama: 진짜 진짜 좋아해 (Really Really Like You)
According to this website http://content.mbc.co.kr/e_mbc/drama.asp?idx=215 , "suffering from Alzheimer’s disease for three years." I am not sure this is the same show however; the title is given as "Love Truly" and the characters' descriptions don't seem to resemble the ones described on this forum:
Jang Jun-won (Actor: Ryu Jin): 31 years old, the son of the president
He’s always smiling. He’s as handsome as a movie star. He’s very intelligent and kind. The women in the hospital where he’s working all agree that he’s the sexiest doctor in the country. He’s generous, modest and warm-hearted. He’s very popular with his patients. It’s hard to believe that he’s the son of the president. He’s not interested in the way he looks. In truth, he doesn’t have time to worry about such things. His hair is usually messy and his clothes aren’t always clean. Judging by appearance, Bong-ki looks more like the son of an important person. Only a few people know that his father is the president. Without knowing that Jun-won has a bodyguard, people find it strange that Bong-ki is always following Jun-won. He’s been married for five years. He has a five-year-old daughter. His wife has been suffering from Alzheimer’s disease for three years. Jun-won feels helpless about the fact that he can’t do anything to make her better. His in-laws want him to get a divorce and start a new life. However, he can’t give up on his wife unless she wants to leave him.
Nam, Bong-ki (Actor: Lee, Min-ki): 28 years old, bodyguard
He’s tall and good-looking. His physical appearance seems almost perfect. However, he’s terribly lazy and self-centered. He’s such a player and he looks down on women. He’s the kind of person that people love to hate. He doesn’t want to get involved in other people’s lives. He’s a very individualistic and selfish person. He tries to avoid anything that requires responsibility. He doesn’t have any problem saying no when someone asks for his help. He doesn’t feel bad about anything. He loves shoes and collects them. He often argues with his father who isn’t happy with his being shallow. Appearance means everything to him. He’s very popular with women. He knows many women. He even categorizes them by appearance. According to his classification, Bong-soon belongs to the lowest group. He never wastes his money and time on the ‘unqualified’ women.

K-drama: 진짜 진짜 좋아해 (Really Really Like You)
What Ji-soo suffers from is Post Encephalitic Dementia...just go back several pages and you'd see how I went to the point of pausing the screen and typing every single world that was written on the paper Joon-won's co-worker gave him when he asked Joon-won who had dementia (as the patient, Ji-soo, was supposed to head to the Mayo Clinic in the US). Here, let me repost...it's from EP 21 I believe: class blockquote There...what Ji-soo has is post-encephalitic dementia. If you look at the paper closely, you can actually read the "Hospital Course & Treatment..."...the last line says "there are no specific curable treatments of this dementia induced cortical lesion"
If you want the full thinig:
This female patient, 28 years old, has diagnosed above disorder, post-encephalitic dementia. She experienced symptoms and signs that suspected herpes encephalitis about two months ago. She had severe memory dysfunction and psychological symptoms such like ____, agitation?. Behavioral disturbances such as irritability, childish behavior was also expressed.
She tested brain MRI, EEG and brain PCT scan.
Cortical atrophy on both temporal lobes was checked in brain MRI.
Cerebral dysfunction was shown on EEG.
The course of this illness is very poor and progressive.
There are no specific curable treatments of this dementia induced cortical lesion. As for Bong-gi's passivity...no passivity here. You'd be suprised at what he said in those foreign languages. Since the MBC America subtitles didn't translate them, I went to the trouble of subbing the clip myself with explaining the meaning of the 3 foreign phrases said by Bong-gi. Also, since it took Bong-soon 2 nights after he said those words to ask him about it, the chance of him telling her would be slim...I know if it was me, I'd do the same because I was given 2 days time to think about it. Earlier in tonight's episode, Bong-gi tried to discuss what happened that night with her but was forever interrupted by someone, and it's supposed to be Bong-soon to ask him, not himself! Given 2 days, he had plenty of time to mull over what he would do...and his reply to Joon-won on why he didn't tell his feelings to Bong-soon: "Because I know that her heart isn't with me." Furthermore, this isn't completely the right time to confess his feelings to her in my opinion. She's just said to Joon-won she only wants to be his sister now. Bong-gi knows this thanks to Joon-woon. Though she says this, she's still not completely over her feelings for the Dr. and she still has to deal with her family and career. What's the point of adding another burden to her already heavy load? And I believe Bong-gi doesn't fear being rejected, but rather the results of the rejection--her distancing herself from him, which is something he doesn't want. If it means he can stay by her side longer...Also, I there's the chance if he declares he loves her, whatever happened to his mom could happen to Bong-soon because of his love for her.
Most RRLY viewers didn't catch on to what Bong-gi had said till an article had been released discussing what Bong-gi meant by "Abdi bogo ka". The clip below includes the translation of Bong-gi's foreign words in the subtitles.
(didn't want to post a spoiler screencap for those who haven't watched the clip yet, so you have the above pic which was the 2nd "abdi bogo kah" said by Bong-gi)
DL clip: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=KIMMM4U3
The scene in the boxing ring...every time I watch the exchange between Bong-soon and Joon-won there, all I can think about is that it sullied a special place between Bong-soon and Bong-gi. However, I also noticed just how "dead" Joon-won was when what Bong-soon was trying to do was give him an outlet for feelings. What Bong-gi was able to do for Bong-soon, Bong-soon wasn't able to do for Joon-won.
I'll rewatch the episode tomorrow to see what scenes got cut and...

Seems as if the Dr. is getting quite callous towards his wife. How can she be exposed to so many dangers- who's watching?
The cooking scenes remind me of Dae Jang Geum.
