Re: K-drama: 진짜 진짜 좋아해 (Really Really Like You)
I am finding it difficult to accept the attachment that exists between Dr.Chang and Bong Soon. I can see where she might find him someone to admire because he has helped her and offered to continue helping her with her studies. However, this should not necessarily lead her into hero worship. As for him...well I can find nothing that would cause his reciprocal feeling in any way at all. He is a grown man with a wife and child. He is a doctor who should be fairly wise in the ways of life. He is definitely set to make a young girl very unhappy and ruin his own family. Then where is his loyalty to his father and mother.?? He was about to judge his father regarding the paternity of B.S and yet he does not realise he is behaving in a most reprehensible way himself???
I have no sympathy for him at all in this situation. If he had found an older woman his own age and got mixed up in that kind of trouble I could understand that being a possiblity. It would still be wrong on his part, but more understandable than clinging to a twenty year old country girl.
When he sharply ordered Bong Soon out of his house and never to come back..was he angry at her.....or at himself......or at his wife.?? Is he at last beginning to realise that he needs to attend to his own wife and her happiness and wellbeing.
there are no excuses for him ..in my eyes.

there are no excuses for him ..in my eyes. The Dr. is pretty much in denial--can't accept himself for who he is to the point he conceals his identity to those around him; he's pretty much offended any friend he could really have by thinking so little of them with regard to this. And to not admit that what he's feeling for BS now is that of a man towards a woman...for Bodyguard Nam to admit first when he has little confidence in himself.
This was what I had originally posted at soompi when so many came to the Dr.'s defense:
Joon Won could have easily put his career on hold for a while till he could handle things when his wife started slipping, but he didn't do that--he kept right on with his career, and he didn't even have to take care of his daughter since she was conveniently with her grandparents in the US. He wanted his cake and eat it too, and now he's breaking down because he can't juggle his career and his wife's illness. It has always been his choice. No one forced him to it.
It might seem Joon Won is trying to be independent of his status as the President's son (he doesn't need to be known as the President's son to accomplish anything), but I say that his pride of this independence/maintenance of this indepence is blinding him, going as far as harming him, which in turns hurts those around him.
"does not want people to know his background so that he is treated like everyone else..."
Then he shouldn't have used the authoritarian voice of "President's son" on Bong Gi twice, basically going against what he's always been attempting to achieve. Bong Gi, surprisingly, though has given him more respect after learning of him being the President's son, yet still treats him like every other person since he's spoken his mind of what he thinks of Joon Won on several occasions already, directly in his face. Bong Gi is more of a real friend to Joon Won than any other has.
The Dr. clearly has issues way before his wife came down with dementia.
In my books, there is no room for sympathy when the one on the receiving end of such sympathy allows what is happening to continue to fester.
Joon-won should heed Bong-gi's words from EP 12--he needs to control himself first and foremost before his family, his career, and the rest of the world will fall into place. class blockquote brad6 wrote:

Bong-soon saw a side of him (his weakness) that he never wanted to show to her. I wonder if he's fallen for Bong-soon because she doesn't know much about him and his past. And he wants to keep it that way.
Just like when he threw the lock like that...he was angry at himself, that he would have to resort to such measures to keep his wife safe; that he couldn't properly care for his wife.

Re: K-drama: 진짜 진짜 좋아해 (Really Really Like You)
creidesca,
Everything you say rings a bell with me. He is one mixed up man. It appalls me that, as a doctor, he cannot see that his wife needs him more as her husband than as a medical helper in her life at this time. She is not without knowledge completely. She just can't express herself. He should know these symptons and treat her with kindness and affection. At times you can see that he is exasperated and even angry with her and she can feel this.
It is going to be interesting to see how the rose coloured glasses slip from Bong Soon's eyes, and then she will really have things in black and white about her crush on the doctor. This will have to happen before she can appreciate the many little things Bong Gi has done for her to try and shelter her. Then maybe she will see that when he talks about 'hate' he is really speaking of 'love'.
Things to come...!

Re: K-drama: 진짜 진짜 좋아해 (Really Really Like You)
Where's the Dr.'s professionalism? How can his mind be preoccupied over whether his words hurt Bong-soon when he has his doctor's coat on? He completely deserved to be given that scolding.
And it must have been a shocker for him to have his mother-in-law arrive out of the blue, requesting for him to let go of her daughter. She likely woudn't have had a reason even if she wished to take care of her daughter if she hadn't seen how he was handling the matter at home.
This better be his wake-up call!
Yowzers, look at the ahjumma...she beat Bodyguard Yup! Must have been his first lost, and to a female at that. When she asked him "How much do you want?" I was like I couldn't believe she would offer him money for his love. Thankfully, it turns out she was asking just how much weight she'd need to lose.
Bong-soon better rethink her relationship with the Dr soon. The Dr. chose to ignore her when her spirits had just been lifted upon seeing him. What a blow, given how her mom turned out.
No matter how Bong-gi is angry and fustrated, I don't think he'd blow off Bong-soon in such a matter, even if Bong-soon is the root of the problem.
So sweet of him to cheer Bong-soon up when the Dr. didn't; taking her out to eat, placing the drumsticks in her dish--a scene quite similar to the one where Bong-soon placed food in the Dr.'s dish to cheer him up. In this case, Bong-gi is the one to offer his shoulder.
The writer also does a wonderful job at keeping up and drawing out the chicken metaphor in Bong-gi's dialogues.
Just when I thought he had gotten his priorities straight, there he goes side-stepping his mom's question by requesting Hyo-won have a female bodyguard (though for once he's actually followed through with one of Bong-gi's advice and it might be of some good for his daughter). And worse off, after seeing his mom, his mind is still on Bong-soon. Has he made a decision yet?
Yes, more on Bong-gi's character.
BG: Were you disappointed?
BG: We can't choose who our parents are. You're not that great either, hillbilly.
BS: She said I was born because she was immature. She said it just happened.
BS: What I can't stand is... How can she be so nonchalant about it? How can she go on laughing, singing, and putting on mud packs on her face? How can someone go on and put nail polish after abandoning her own kid?
BG: Even after taking my mom's life, I still laughed, sang, dance, went out with girls, and did everything I want.
BG: You have to go on. What else can you do? You have to live on, if you can't die.
BG: I still get hungry, even after taking her life.
BG: I have to go on.
BS: What do you mean?
BG: At least your mother's still alive. That's why you met her.
BG: You can get mad and put up a fight with her, or go see her. You can do whatever you want.
BG: You don't need to feel sorry for your mother.
From Bong-gi's father's own mouth when BS questioned him: How strange. He always runs away on his mother's memorial day to avoid talking about her. He's too scared to even hold a service for her.
Recall how in EP 3 he pretended he forgot his mother's memorial? How he waited to the last moment before heading over to his mom? How in front of his mom, he asked her to scold him?
What could Bong-gi have done to have said he took his mom's life?
The dietician is definitely a golddigger...look at the ease in which she extracted information from the photographer.
Bong-soon listening to Bong-ki's advice? Another utter disappointment for Bong-soon.
Okay, so the Dr. has gotten himself sick...is he finally contemplating divorce. He took out his fustration on his wife who doesn't understand what's going on.
What I don't get is how Bong-soon can go see the doctor after what he did to her earlier in the episode. He's the first person she thinks of when she's down.
Aww, another thing to help Bong-soon forget her troubles. She'd be reminded of the starry nights back home. The disappointment in Bong-gi when he heard she's with the Dr. Look how he went into a fetal position.
Someone knock some sense into the girl please! What the freak kind of ending is that to the episode? Isn't she supposed to push him away, knowing what the Dr. is about to do? Where's her morals? And hello Dr., does this mean you're going ahead with the divorce? You can easily give up on your wife who's been with you for 10+ years, but you can't handle her illness for more than 3?
and for those interested in what Bong-gi got for Bong-soon:
it's called the homestar, and it's made by segatoys in japan.

K-drama: 진짜 진짜 좋아해 (Really Really Like You)
Bong-Gi's chicken metaphors for Bong-Soon are sooso hilarious - I love how she's just used to them now and BG knows it so he contines using them as jokes. "What, afraid to eat your friends from back home?" when giving her his chicken legs, hahaha, I loved that one. I laughed out loud when I saw that BG had BS's cell number listed under "Hillbilly." I just love a good drama that can make me laugh almost more than anything.
I don't think it could have been more adorable when BG was on BS's bed, looking at the Homestar projection, waiting for BS to get home, all excited that she'll love it. Hey, BG is Leo like me! Sooo sad when he just curled up after hearing BS was with Dr. Chang. If he knew she was doing more than that... Argghhhh, Chang needs to get away from Bong-Soon NOW.

Re: K-drama: 진짜 진짜 좋아해 (Really Really Like You)
for once, KTAN only cut 5min worth of scenes from an EP of RRLY, the case being tonight.
I'll be back later in the morning w/ the eng subbed clip of this 5min scene and my thoughts/comments on tonight's ep.
But in the meantime, enjoy the vocal track heard in tonight's ep, in the scene between Bong-gi and Bong-soon at the bus stop till the moment Bong-gi is sitting in his yard, not being able to sleep. Sung by Lee Minki, our very own Nam Bong-gi! You will not find this track on the OST, as it was recorded weeks after the OST had been released. Supposedly the track can be purchased at online Korean music sites.
Lee Minki - Like Candy II [Lee Minki version]:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=7T3OO3WH
article pertaining to the song, translated by Telly at the soompi RRLY thread:
Lee Min Ki To Come Up With A Painful Love Song
"Because of the situation with Eugene, a painful song is created in the mind."
MBC's weekend drama, "Really Really Like You" will increase the tension between the characters of Eugene and Lee Min Ki, by giving him a song to express his feelings and thoughts.
The score of the song is like Eugene's song, "Like Candy", but Min Ki's song is about the sincerity of his feelings for Eugene. Considering all of this, it is a painful love song.
The song, "Like Candy 2" [Lee Min Ki's Version] was introduced during episode 22 that aired on the 18th. Viewers who heard the song are expressing their anxiety and anticipation. Although "Like Candy 2" is influenced by the original Like Candy in terms of composition, the lyrics are different, and the melody is much slower.
The President's son's increasing interest in Bong Soon seems to hurt Lee Min Ki's character, as he has to witness the love struggle between her and the doctor. Lee Min Ki had to put up with his internal struggles within himself, and was afraid to express his feelings to Eugene because she is still confused, and may not understand anything yet. This is the main reason why they made a song that would not only express Lee Min Ki's feelings and sentiments, but will hopefully reach Eugene as well.
Lee Min Ki keeps his bodyguard role from the MBC drama, "Be Strong, Geum Soon!" [correction: he was not a bodyguard in Be Strong, Geu Soon!"] and the show "Rainbow Romance", but this time, he is initially recording for the series' OST.
"Like Candy 2" [Lee Min Ki version] will be available for purchase online on the 26th, as a full track and ringtone.
