Also is her mother supposed to be the rather nefarious woman with the purse snatching daughter..? I have not quite accepted that either.
This is a messy series of plotlines.
Yes, that is her mother. She looks exactly like the one in Bong-soon's photo. The Director and Bong-Gi's father know that her mother was formerly an actress since the Presidential chef recognized the woman in the photo as the actress in the poster for the movie "Red Cherry"...which just happens to be what we saw her as in last week's epis--filming a scene for a drama or movie.

Several of us when we saw EP 4 for the first time, had a feeling the purse-snatching girl would be important--the camera focused on her face a bit longer than necessary. We just didn't know at the time that she'd end up being Bong-Soon's stepsister. Also, if you didn't pay special attention to yesterday's episode...the girl whose picture is in Moonshik's (Bong-Gi's fellow friend and bodyguard) camera phone is the same girl! What a coincidence!

Right now I see it as a bit of fate...if JW hadn't gotten hurt in the mountains, Bong-Gi would have never went there and met Bong-soon. If her stepsister hadn't snatched her purse, she wouldn't have ran into Bong-Gi's father and then him. If her dog hadn't died and she hadn't found the bellflower while digging her dog's grave, and Bong-Gi, his father, and the Director didn't eat her bellflower, she wouldn't have ended up staying with them...found a job in the Presidential residence...

be back in a bit to post the english hardsubbed 14min cut scene from EP 18.

favorite scene from EP 18 (cut from the SoCal aired version):
so sweet of Bong-Gi to allow Bong-Son to out her stress (the morning after learning Dr. Chang is the President's son, and potentially, her half-brother) out on his hair...he must love her hair =P

I hope Bong-soon got the message. If she didn't listen to Bong-Gi, she better listen to the chef ahjummas to stay away from the married man. If they can misconstrue her and Dr. Chang's relationship, others will likely have also...well, it looks like First Lady has an idea already...not good, she had to give her son a warning.

Maybe it's time Dr. Chang accept the fact that he's THE President's son. Remember in the dialogue between Bong-Gi and Bong-Soon, Bong-Gi tells her to accept...accept that Dr. Chang is the President's son, accept if it happens to be more than that? Seems like the Dr. has been shying away from the DUTY of a President's son...and all because if he tells/they find out he's the President's son, their attitudes change? Hello! That means they're NOT your FRIEND. A friend would know how you are like, that you wouldn't use your President's son status to get what you want. The Dr. has kept his little secret hidden from his so-called "friends" and co-workers!

Is it possible that Bong Soon is not the President's daughter, but the daughter of the friend who is dying, and the pickpocket is actually the daughter? I don't think they are half sisters, and that the woman is not her mother.

It's been mentioned in EP 17 or 18, that the pickpocket's father is already dead (in the conversation b/w Bong-soon's Mom and the pickpocketing daughter). Furthermore, in the conversation b/w the dying friend and the President and Presidential cook, San, he says he he will need to tell his wife to cook kongengi/kogengi for him from now on. Therefore, Bong-Soon's mom is not likely his wife.

Bong Soon's relationship with the president is a really big IF right now..I'm just really really glad that the drama is REALLY getting to the point. When the president looked at her, it didn't REALLY look like he was looking at her as his own daughter...maybe it's just me? One Possible Prediction: the president could've been good friends with her father, but maybe he died somehow?

I think she may be the daughter of an old friend as well. For a minute there I thought perhaps she may be the chef's daughter since he also was in KongWan (sp?) with the president and also something else he had said...that they were neighbors. But then he would have recognized the picture of her mother, I'm sure. So it's all very interesting right now, waiting to see who her father might be.

As for Mr. Chang, at least he did what Bong Gi asked him too. I was shocked he did that much, although it was really for Bong Soon perhaps that is why he did it, but he is very irresponsible. I am really dissliking his character a lot.

I watched the cut scene from 18. Very good, funny. That Ajumama is so funny with that guard! In a way I kind of hope something happens with them, although it't not likely. And the hair cutting scene was great. Bong Gi is def. worth watching in this.

hi everyone...

wow, this drama is keeping me on my seat. I'm tempted to go ahead w/youtube...hehe.

agree w/everyone that Dr. Chang is really irritating. BG is the only level headed guy. I love that bus scene too. i really hope he'll listen to his mom and BG.

about BS's father...I was thinking it could be the friend too. the President could be an uncle kinda thing...hehe.

anyhoo, thanks creidesca for the clip and the pic. I had to go back to the episode to see it...hehe.

Greetings everyone... I'm new here and just dropped in to say hi! emoticon
I missed the first three RRLY episodes, so it's been great to be able to finally see how the series started. And thanks to Creidesca for the EP 7 translation, I was really, really lost during that episode. LOL Looking forward to this weeks airing, curious to see how Bong Soon's mother and step-sister roles will play out.
