K-drama: 진짜 진짜 좋아해 (Really Really Like You)

i can't agree with you more, funniegirlie. i love bong gi, he is so sweet. i love the way he makes his voice funny when he gets mad but i like the way he thinks of bong soon like that. its so cute. i hope that she will realize him before its too late. isn't bong soon and the dr like half siblings due to the fact that they have the same father...eww that would be like incest if they got together.

favorite scene from EP 17:

Eek, not once but twice! If touching BS in that way in his own bedroom wasn't enough, what must have been passing through his mind as he gazed at her after putting her on the couch.

In comparison to Bong-gi, who is also beginning to realize his feelings toward Bong-soon, how chaste he was, keeping both hands in front of him while her head was leaning on his shoulders in the bus scene.

And boy, Joon-won must have been shocked at just how quickly Bong-gi got there.

Bong-gi has repeatedly warned the two. Joon-won has his reputation as a husband to keep, but that of the First Son as well. He should know how society will view, not HIM, BUT Bong-soon, should the two be seen together. Just look at Jin-kyung's reaction--Bong-soon's vague answer to her questions had her assuming Bong-soon and Dr. Chang were having an affair. [on a side note...looks like Jin-kyung's moving on...Hyung-do the photographer has a chauffeur!]

Bong-gi's asked Bong-soon to keep her distance from Dr. Chang, but she's not listening...the walk around the block to digest the spaghetti was a bit over the top. She might be sincerely only wishing to help him, but doggoneit, she still has feelings for him as a woman does for a man. The essence of the scene completely reminds me of the playful cooking scene in Dr. Chang's kitchen, except no one is there to witness these two except the audience. Looks like he's replacing his wife for Bong-soon, since she can't seem to recognize her own husband's voice now...especially in a time when her husband needs some cheering up [but seriously, the Dr. needs to do deal with his feelings towards his patients on his own, because the cheering up can only last for so long]

Ah yes...looks like the girl who pickpocketed Bong-soon in EP 4 is her half-sister?

Aww...and Bong-gi's concern when he finds Bong-soon in the Presidential kitchen. He doesn't attempt to prevent Bong-soon from serving the meal, knowing how much she wants to personally meet the President who could be her father. Yet, at the same time, he also knows Dr. Chang will be there...and really no point in warning the good Dr.--he's already told the Dr. to ask his father who Bong-soon is, and Bong-soon will find out sooner or later Dr. Chang's real identity.

Preview for EP 18: http://www.imbc.com/broad/tv/drama/reallylikeu/preview/1512068_16286.html

oh yes, the song heard on the bus and walk in the park scene, not found on the OST [this track was recorded later]:

Like Candy II [Kim Mi Ri version] - Kim Mi Ri

I don't understand how a show can start out promising and then deteriorate as so many of the recent Korean Soap Operas have. Maybe they are producing too many shows and need to find better writers.

No, I think it's because MBC thought that by making it look like Ryu Jin (Dr. Chang/Joon-won) the lead, they'd garner ratings since he came off from the hit SBS period drama Seo Dong Yoh. But the real male lead has always been the bodyguard. If you watch this drama from a different perspective, like I have been, the drama is actually good.

If you remember this one line Bong-gi said (well, how could you remember, since it was completely cut out from the SoCal aired version):

Only those who can rule themselves can rule a family
Only those who can rule a family can rule a nation
Only those who can rule a nation can rule the world!
We need a secure family in order to have a secure nation!

What we've been seeing w/ regards to the Dr. makes complete sense. He hasn't learned how to rule over himself, therefore, how could he rule his family (it's a complete mess right now), and then the world (his workplace, the hospital)? President and First Lady have kept him pretty much protected that he doesn't even know how to cope/deal with such matters in a correct manner. It looks like he always run away from his problems or have someone else resolve the problem for him. Bong-gi, on the other hand, has managed to do what Joon-won hasn't...which might explain why he talks to himself and has a powerful mouth. Out of the three, he's the most level-headed, considering how many of us thought him to be selfish, rude. It's his self-defense mechanism, as well as outlet.

Some thing you guys might not notice is that the time span within the drama has been pretty short, yet because we only get 2 epis/week, it seems much longer. From the episode (11 or 12) where we heard the First Lady mention that the Dr.'s mother-in-law would be arriving in a week to EP 20-21 when she arrives will only have been 7 days in the drama (yet it took 6 weeks for the audience to see it).

Also KTAN has managed to cut nearly all scenes between the one kitchen ahjumma and Bodyguard Yup.

This drama gets even more interesting once EP 19-20 comes around. I've already watched the available episodes raw once, a second time when I got my hands on the rented english subtitled DVDs, and now am in the process of watching it a 3rd time. This is one of the few dramas that had me contemplate over topics I would usually never think twice, and with each additional viewing of the episodes, I am able to see something I had originally missed in the first viewing.

I agree with creidesca. If you watched this drama from the bodyguard point of view as the lead, it is very good and funny.

The writer has been very consistent with each of the characters.

I know I sure hope the Dr. snaps out of whatever he's in soon, but by reviewing what's been said by him/others about him from the very start of this drama till now, he's been like this for years [even before his wife developed dementia] and still hasn't found a way out.

Bong-gi and Bong-soon are likely to be the "national heroes" (remember what the Dr. said bout their names in EP 2?), come to his rescue, show him the way out.

Creidesca, you took the words right out of my mouth about this last episode...how can the Dr. look at Bong Soon like that inside his own house with his wife in the next room?? No matter how many times Bong Gi reminds BOTH of them that they shouldn't interact so much with each other anymore, they fail to listen. That walk in the park really reminded me of the "playfulness" in the kitchen scene as well. I am really disliking Mr.Chang right now..at the time when his wife needs him the most, he goes to another woman?

But that bus scene was definitely one of my most favorites in this drama so far...so cuuute! Bong Gi's facial expression and the way his clasps his hands in front of him was really adorable. Hopefully, we can see a major change in this next episode..would the president know who Bong Soon is even if Mr.Chang asked him?

creidesca I compeletly agree with all you said. It was actually clear to me from about the 2 or 3 episode that Bong Gi was indeed the lead character in this drama. I think his character def. has the most depth.

That bus scene was great, my favorite so far. Tonights episode did not dissapoint. Bong Gi was the only one who actually had the guts and strength and caring to do something with Bong Soon's picture of the president. True, he didn't give it to the president himself, but to Mr. Chang, which was actually the better option, kill two birds with one stone and all. He told Mr. Chang why Bong Soon was angry, why he should stay away and ask him to confirm for Bong Soon's sake with really only one sentence and one picture. Go Bong Gi!

I can't wait to see what happens with the president next week. Btw creidesca, where did you download this drama?? I would like to see the whole thing with no cut scenes.

I'm completely flabbergasted. KTAN completely cut a 14min continuous segment from EP 18! (supposed to have occurred during the 1st commercial break)

Re: K-drama: 진짜 진짜 좋아해 (Really Really Like You)

creidesca,

I am still trying to make up my mind whether the President is actually her father. There is no doubt that he is the younger man in the photo. However, since many were in hiding in the countryside during that time and many were friends...he could have been visiting the family and someone else could be her father.

Also is her mother supposed to be the rather nefarious woman with the purse snatching daughter..? I have not quite accepted that either.
This is a messy series of plotlines.

Dr.Chang is a pretty sad excuse for a man and a President's son.

*************************

Also the present lineup of dramas on the two channels is not exactly topnotch..IMO...
