Re: TK409 Protocol Project

Hi Chris,

While I'd absolutely love to have my own Threepio suit, I'm very unlikely to find a briefcase full of cash with which to do it.

What I am in the middle of doing right now is building a 3D model of him for my animation software. I'm mostly done with the head and upper torso, though I may have to re-work a few little things.

I've saved pretty much every reference picture I could find from the internet, and I've found the stuff from here very useful.

I would have contacted you sooner if I had noticed that you are in Raleigh, NC. I live in Wilmington, NC and I was wondering if it might be possible at some point for me to set up a meeting with you so that I could photograph and measure all of the suits components.

Thanks,
Joe R

Hi Joe,
Most of us buy one part at a time for the same reason emoticon
I'm doing a photoshoot this Saturday in Wake Forest at 9pm. You're welcome to come if you like. They don't happen very often with my schedule! Email me at chris@tk409.com for details.

Shipped 7/25
head: Linda B.

Hey Chris, question on the arms. What do you mean they fit your "hulking arms?" I know the forearms are not much of an issue; it’s the bicep and shoulder opening. I took a rough measurement and my bicep rests at about 12" around....I think that might be too tight. What is your experience with these arms?

Shipped 10/10
Lg Torso: Daniel D
Legs: Daniel D

@themadguitarist:
I need to measure myself. The shoulder opening is just barely too narrow to fit my shoulder, so it the bicep rides too low. Akira did this excellent mod:
- cut a slit on the inside if the bicep about halfway down
- heat it in the oven
- spread it apart
- stick a piece of wood inside to hold it apart
- allow to cool
- cover the gap on the inside with sheet of styrene or fiberglass netting
- bondo across the gap.
