Re: **Loose intake butterfly screws**
This is discracefull,i want my nissan checked one way or another.any body got any idea what the gaskets cost/.Do you think that a spring washer should fix the problem?I wonder what nissan would charge to give me piece of mind.If nissan do not fix Bretts x-trail,i will not purchase another one.I really think this is a great vechicle that has a rotten flaw, and believe me i am worried. If nissan would come to the party every time i would be happy, but Bretts treatment is nothing but rubbish.I think a email to ask Smithy in the herald sun newspaper (melbourne)that comes out friday with pictures sent might be the way to focus Nissan Australia mind to give us a recall and fix their engineering problems. How hard is it to fit some spring washers and some heat treatment loctite.I would use 271,as it goes as hard as hell.I am getting angry about this and i feel pussy footing around is getting no where.I think that all nissan x-trail owners need to know and newspapers both in melbourne and Sydney should let X-trail owners know about this fatal flaw.Nissan has stuck by the Nissan patrol 3litre diesal motor problem and now have to lift ther game by recalling the x-trails.RAY

Re: **Loose intake butterfly screws**
Kev - I agree that diplomacy and a level head right now will have better results, but how would you feel knowing that your dealer is blatanly lying to Nissan Australia and even had the balls to lie and say that the I have my car back and it's all good. Just checked the driveway again, nope, no car. 8(
A problem that I face now is whether to actually accept the vehicle back from the dealer.
Scenario: they ring, cars ready, come and picked it up. I say no, it goes on the block and sits there, for how long. Am I covered it it gets damaged or stolen. If the dealer is then told to replace the engine, how can I be sure the new engine is replaced and how can I trust a disgruntled team of mechanics to do a correct and proffessional job, how do I tell NA to have my car taken to Bathurst Nissan (50kms away), where their level of service is exceptional.

Re: **Loose intake butterfly screws**
If Nissan Australia agree to replace the engine, then I would request (Directy to Nissan Australia) that it be performed by Nissan Bathurst as you have no confidence in the Orange dealership.
Itr may cost you a trip on a truck for the exy but I think it would be money well spent for peace of mind. It would not cost Nissan Australia anything extra so they should not object, they may even come to the party with the cost of the tilt truck.

Re: **Loose intake butterfly screws**
Brett,
I totally understand and agree but a united roar will always get more attention than a single squeak.
I am sure Jalal is not wanting to have everyone waiting longer than they need to, especially you.
And yes mate, if it were me in this position I would be annoyed and wanting to tell everyone about it too, but with the possibility of many more people helping my cause I would try to find the extra patience somewhere (damned if I could see where).
With my Xtrail being 3.5yrs old and with 69,000kms on the odo, believe me when I also say I am very anxiously waiting to see what we can do together.

Re: **Loose intake butterfly screws**
Dear Brett and all,
As you personally know very well, you're not alone fighting this case and I was the one who called your wife this morning and told her what Nissan Australia told me (i.e. that your dealer claims the car is with you!)
I told them straight away that this is not true and it seem NA got caught by surprise in regards to this matter and said they will check everything with Orange and call me back.
As much as I am helping you in this case, I have a much bigger goal in sight and that is to get an answer about the fate of rest of the Nissan X-Trail owners who still have their xtrail running on the road with a "time bomb"
I am in no way loosing sight of your situation, but I believe it has opened a whole can of worms which was being kept far away from anyone to reach and see.
This time (today) is was a phone call from Nissan Australia and am expecting to receive another tomorrow.
I have even offered to meet them in person in Melbourne head office and I have no problems flying there for this.
I can assure you all that I will get an answer and I would appreciate that you tone-down your posts a little, as the matter has NOT yet been finalized and I was assured today that Nissan will NOT walk away from its responsibility once again!
On a side note and as reported by one of our forum members who approached his dealer asking for these screws to be checked-out, the dealer did not deny the problem and offered 2 options:
1. Call Nissan Australia Head Office and start a claim.
2. Pay $300 and have all butterflies and screws replaced as per the new design (with washers)
I am not suggesting that you take either of the above options....NOT YET!!!
NOTE: For all of us to get somewhere with NA, I need your support and by that I mean, being patient until your hear from me otherwise. As I said earlier, I have NOT given-up on NA just yet and direct negotiations are continuing. I don't want to ruin all this effort by seeing threats and abuses getting thrown in a thread that is now the centre of attention and the record am using to fight this case!

Re: **Loose intake butterfly screws**
Jalal - I wish to reinforce the support I have with you and the enquiries you are making, but in my position, my patience is running extremely thin. I understand that my issue is probably going to bring this to the attention of NA and may result in a better deal for everyone else, but everyone still has their vehicles. Mate, I am stuck here in Orange, with urgent medical and other appointments to make this weekend and no car.
I am glad that you have seen first hand the level of 'contempt' that NO has showed me. I await your instructions/advise as I don't want to undo your hard earned work, but I do need to vent my frustration (read anger) and this forum is my only avenue. You can't blame the other guys for feeling the same way. Nissan can either see this thread as a winge, or a potential to loose some solid business and support. As they say, 'the ball is in their court'.
But like I have already said, my patience and sanity is nearing the end...

Re: **Loose intake butterfly screws**
Fully understand your frustration Brett. Am sorry I can't do more to help your situation but am hoping for a good outcome.
For now, I think you need to call N.O. and tell them that you will be hiring a car and will be sending them the bill, if they have problems with that, tell them to approach head office.
