Re: **Loose intake butterfly screws**

I have just had LPG fitted and had the secondary butterfly screws checked.

The screws appeared to have been locktited already. All were tight and difficult to remove.

Mine is a January 2005 X-Trail.

Re: **Loose intake butterfly screws**

Hi Everyone

I recently bought a 2006 STI from a dealer.

The next day while driving up a hill, the car lost all power (not electrical). It was like there was no fuel getting through.

It happened for about 10mins before coming good again.

It has been 3 months now and happens at least once a day - i cant find a pattern and it lasts for about 10-20mins before coming good. One thing I have noticed is that its more pronounced going up hills.

The main symptoms seem to be the same as described on this forum - loss of power, very jerky to drive. Its like im driving along at 70kms and someone takes my foot off the accelerator - only flooring it will revive it.

The dealer is currently looking at (2nd time). They are not sure what the problem is at the moment.

I have read most of this forum, and it says it applies to < 2005 models. Does anyone know if this problem can occur to 2006 models?

I thought it was bad fuel at first - i always get my petrol from the same service station. I changed service stations and the problem continued. After reading this forum im a little worried.

Regards

Have you tried cleaning the throttle body Staino? Or have Nissan do it - as you have to be careful of the butterfly valve.

Hi Naff

Next time i take the car back to the nissan dealer i can mention that. The problem is still occuring after several visits to the nissan dealer.

Not sure exactly what the dealer has done (i have no idea about engines) but initially they were baffled too. Currently i do feel that the dealer is taking me seriously and Ive been happy with their service so far.

Hi staino,

We should take this off to a new topic as we are starting to get away from the Loose Butterfy Screws which this thread is about. Our Admin can help with that.

In relation to your problem, has the dealer cleaned your injectors and checked the flow of your fuel pump?

*runs downstairs to check oil*

I BET someone sold this car I just bought as this just happened to them. It was masked by the used car dealer and thankfully I have another two months to have this diagnosed. Fingers crossed its not Butterfly screws but I bet Jalal is right....
