funny thing is the service manager told me there has never been an incident in australia where the screws have fallen out.i do not believe that after what i have read in this forum.
You should have told him to come here and have a read and look at the already reported cases and am pretty sure it's only a handful compared to the cases we never hear about and where owners were forced to fork-out a fortune for a defect that came from Nissan!
The dealer would have NEVER agreed to do this for you had they not been told by Nissan Australia to treat such cases as "serious" and do the preventative measure. That is the one good thing that came out of all this saga and the countless number of time Nissan Australia have been approached about this and requested to notify all dealers about the defect.
Re: **Loose intake butterfly screws** i have told them to have a read on this forum but they told me dont believe what you read on the forums.but the service manager told me that we did it as a precaution.i think nissan are trying to keep quiet about this.

So what they are trying to say is that all the photos on this and other forums, of the damage caused by the dislodged screws, are all photoshopped ie: fake?

Re: **Loose intake butterfly screws** It won't be the pics that are proof to them Rich, but the Nissan dealership names which are mentioned where the repairs and replacements were done as they can check these on their own computer records.

Re: **Loose intake butterfly screws** Yesterday I finally did it and replaced the intake butterfly screws out of the 8 screws 4 were extremely tight and 4 were ridiculously tight but I removed them cleaned the holes with primer T and dried it with air and put 272 loctite on. There was a fair amount of oil in the manifold very clean oil, the throttle body was clean. It honestly looked like the screws had a blue loctite on them. I now have piece of mind that they have been done. I took a few photo’s with the number plate include to show that they had been done for my own benefit.
PS: I was telling a mate who works for Porsche what i was doing to the X-trail and he said we were in good company as BMW's have this issue as well
