Door Edge Protector

Image

I saw these door edge protectors on an exy up here the other week and though what a brilliant idea. So I went out today and got myself a set.

I've tried a number of the rubber / plastic protectors that either stick to the door edge with double sided tape or wedge and clip over the door. Both styles don't work terribly well. They either fall off or interfere with the closing of doors, and they only protect a small section of the door anyway.

These chrome moldings are a "U" shape strip and just slide over the edge of the door protecting every part of it. The rubber is quite flexible and can be stretched to go around the corners. Where the corners are a bit sharp a simple clip at the back of them with a pair of scissors has allowed them to fit much better.

Not a bad investment for $9 from the local Autobarn to protects all four side door edges. And they look awesome as well emoticon

Re: Door Edge Protector

Oh no!!!! more chrome has been found??? LOL

You're such a bad influence amigo. hehehehe

Jalal says to himself "don't get it, don't get it, you don't need it....oh well if you insist then" hehehehe

Dropping by autobarn tomorrow emoticon

P.S. I have the door edge protectors that stick to the outside surface of the door, so they don't interfere with the closing and opening of the doors at all and they're rubber with a small reflector inside, they've been great in protecting the doors so far.

Re: Door Edge Protector

I have the little ones with reflectors on them and the reflector has dropped off a couple of them. I went to remove them to replace them and they scratched the duco a little from all the dust and sand gathering inside them.

Good price though for $9. Does that cover the four doors. Maybe I could get another set and do the back door as well. emoticon

Re: Door Edge Protector

Many, many moons ago you could buy this in a roll. When I was involved in dealerships our used car ppl would use it to dress up the oldies and it did a great job.
It can be put on anything with a ridge such as wheel arches, drip rails and around tailgates.
It looks very classy in the right place but tacky if over done.

It should be hardly noticeable but highly functional when it's Black on Black. emoticon
