Queensland Tag-A-Long Tour 9-10 Feb 2007
Queensland Tag-A-Long tour
Day 1
Stanthorpe meeting point, information centre 8.30am.
The Gang
We all gathered together, met Bob and Marian from Brisbane Hinterland Tours, signed indemnity declaration and went through the introductions and rules for the weekend.
Morning tea - Undercliff falls
Lunch - Silver Hills mine smelter (River tree district).
Bob & Marian said to pass on their thanks to the Xtrail forum administrators for the donation of $5 per vehicle
Started making our way further into the bush
It started to cloud over so we started on our way to the camp site for the night. Along the way we did a river crossing and two drivers lost their front number plates.
Started to rain and we started to climb the mountain.
Good drive in the wet
40km east south east of Tenterfield on the New England ranges Timbara plateau 900metres up, we set up camp at the property.
Dinner was great, bbq and salad, apple pie and custard. Chatted around the fire roasted marshmallows before we all went to bed

Day 2
Drove down to rocky river.
Morning tea at the river
The kids got to swim and play
Malara creek crossings.
Drove bush tracks stopped at Lady Jersey mine
Drake for lunch (old mining town)
A chance to see what the cars really could do.
Atrig point for view over towards border and mount warning
Back thru state forest to McLeod creek to try and retrieve number plates, do more creek crossings and finish the day.
Success, Bev braved the water to retrieve the number plates
Depart from Tenterfield and home.
A really big thanks to Bob and Marian for a fantastic, professional tour. Your knowledge and skills were greatly appreciated.
Thanks for all the participants on this event, I hope you had a great time and look forward to many more events in the future.
If anyone wants to post pic from the day, please do so, there will be some videos on the way as soon as I upload them all.
I'm sorry if I did not get everything in chronological order but it's the contents that count.

A general wrap up from the weekend
Bob & Marian - fantastic people, very knowledged in the area and all aspects of 4wds.
Marian - great cook.
The area - Sensational
The Exy's - What can I say, performed like a treat, impressed everyone as usual.
The drivers - Well done all, it's been a pleasure being part of this weekend. Rob, you did great for your first adventure off road.
Thinking of changing my name to the Black Submarine.
Dez, I think I might have to get you to make me a snorkel if I keep nose diving into rivers. I have to admit, I was a little bit taken aback when I saw water coming up on to the windscreen

Thanks for organising such a great trip Jamie.
We had a ball! I am cutting together a video of the bits we took and the photos - I would be happy to take any other contributions and put them all together on to a CD or DVD and send it to the participants.
I have posted some of the photos below...
