The Brindabella Ranges - Wee Japser to Canberra

Decided to go the 'tourist route' down to Queanbeyan and I must admit, this part of the country is amazing. From dense rainforest-like climates, to thick eucalypst and finally the burnt remains from the ACT fires in 2004.

My route took me through Yass, Wee Jasper and then into the Brindabella Ranges and the Bondo State Forest (west of ACT). Finished the trip at a nice little camping spot by the river, near Uriara.

Most of the main trails are gravel, but there were some dirt ones that would really chop up in the wet/snow season. It was relatively well signposted, although I also used the notes from the 'Gregorys 4WD weekends - route 5 Brindabella Ranges' guide Some of the 'powerlines tracks' looked awesome and I can see myself coming back here with my Pajero for a run (which gracefully is on display on pge 270 of the June 2006 4WD MONTHLY magazine, sorry about my ugly mug getting in the way of a good pic. There will be a signing opportunity later this month.)

One of the powerline tracks that I attempted. Shame there wasn't anyone else with me apart from the kids to take a better photo. (I wish, I'll leave that track for the Pajero..ha ha ha)

Although the fires destroyed everything only a few years ago, regrowth is happening and Mother Nature is fighting back.

One of the nice gravel roads that you can flick the rear end of the exee out and dream of your 'rally driving days'.

 Go on, get out there.
You know you bought the exee to get it dirty. emoticon

Great Post Brett

I did that trip a couple of years ago with a mates Pajero. It really is a great part of the world. Talking about rally Driving....I've taken the exy aroud the sutton forest where the rally of canberra is held on a recent trip.... The back end does get a bit flimsey around those bends. LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cheers

Yeah I have trialled it at different points on the nudge bar, finally deciding that the centre was 'least' distracting.
