Newnes

I took the Xtrail down to Newnes (west of Sydney) a couple of weeks ago.

Fantastic spot for a weekend camping!. There are heaps of campsites. My advice would be to cross the ford to the "ruins" side and find a nice secluded site anywhere from the ford up to the ruins, right on the river.

I hear it can get busy on public holidays, so it might be best to pick an ordinary weekend.

A great river for paddling for the kids, and the ruins are great. It also has a glowworm cave up the road if you are feeling energetic (I didnt). A few xtrail-friendly 4x4 tracks around there too. We took the Blackfellows fire trail back, which the xtrail handled easily.
