Re: Suspension lowered
Hi Dave,
I actually made the post on purpose so you can go back and put the old springs and maybe reconsider this mod. hahahaha (just joking of course)
Found some old pics of your exy in the side steps thread:
BEFORE:
AFTER:
P.S. Don't think you need the side steps anymore

Re: Suspension lowered
Brett that would be good to see your Exy raised. I think you would need to fit a thicker swaybar to stop body roll and maybe a longer check link on your swaybar.
I beleive this is a DIY for someone with a bit of nouse.
Tools required for removal of the strut.
- Three to four hours.
- one good looking Asst (the wife will do.)
- 19mm socket and spanner
- 17mm socket and spanner
- extention bar (as they are very tight.)
- ring spanner off set 14mm
- hammer
- flat screw driver
- spring compessors
- axle stands
- Trolley jack
FRONT STRUTS
Step 1. Break nuts on tyres.
Step 2. Jack up car.
Step 3. Remove front wheels
Step 4. Remove the clip and rubber gromets holding the brake lines and ABS wires. Remove clip with a hammer and screwdriver.
Step 5. Break the strut nut at this point, only if you dont have a impact gun.
Step 6. Undo the two large bolts at the base of the strut. (take not of direction of nut and bolt.)
Step 7. Have the cook hold the strut while you undo the three 14 mm nuts at the top of the strut. To the point of a few threads holding.(Where your strut brace is.)
Step 8. At this point swap with the cook and let her undo the last few turns of the nuts. This way you can lower the strut down. As the top of the strut need to come out of the wheel arch first.
Step 9. Place spring compressors onto spring. Tighten evenly taking load off strut.(beware if this is not done correctly there will still be load on the piston retaining nut.
At this point look at indicators on the top of the mounting plate. Taking note of the Arrow linning up with the lower two strut bolt holes. The gasket has a line that lines up with a green indicator. Insure this is lined up when refitting the strut back up into the wheel arch as it makes it easier to line up.)
Step 10. Undo piston nut 17 mm leaving a few threads, now check by depressing the top mounting plate with your hand to see if there is any load/ or minamal. While holding presser have the cook undo the last few threads.
Step 11. Seperate the spring for the strut. and replace with new spring. (In your case you will need to fit spring compressors to the new spring before fitting.)
Step 12. Insure spring is seated correctly. And the spring is hard up against the locator.
Step 13.Line up the mounting plate on top with the arrow aligned with the two strut bolt holes. Make sure the half moon of the piston thread lines up with half moon on the mounting plate. Replace nut.
Refer to line up proceedures in step 9.
Now Tighten nut with inpact gun. If no inpact gun tighten as much as possible. And re-tighten once strut is fully installed.
Step 14. Refit strut, getting cook to place the three strut mount nuts on as much as possible with fingers. while you hold the strut.
Step 15. Refit Two lower strut bolts Leaving loose until you tighten the three strut mount nuts
Step 16.Tighten lower nuts and bolts. (Making sure you pull on the top of the disc and push the botton in. As this is the correct location when tighting the nuts.)
Step 17. Replace the clip and gromets wheels etc.
REAR STRUT
The only difference for the rear is the two strut covers inside the boot which is easierly removed with a screwdriver. Also the rear has one 14mm nut on the checklink at the strut which needs to be undone and pushed aside.
PS
Unsure if these instructions will even help as you might be getting spring and strut package to raise your vehicle.

Re: Suspension lowered
Hi Jalal
Lucky I came back inside to look at the forum I was just about to change the springs back to take a photo so I could show a comparison. (you have a better collection of photos of my car than me)
Cheers Dave

Re: Suspension lowered
Brett the check link is what connects the sway bar to the strut on the rear. I think whiteline make a swaybar for the Exy if not thay will make one from your swaybar thats what I did for my bluebird
