X-Trail - Microfilter

Hey guys,

I know Alan has done his, as he is the one that told me to fit one to prevent the mouldy smell that occurs after you turn the A/C off anf keep the fan pushing air through the cabin vents.

If Alan or anyone else knows some suggestions about how to install the filter, please enlighten me - I can't read the supplied (japanese) instructions very well emoticon

Rich.

Re: attn: Alan - Microfilter

Hi Rich

Stick the included foam to the side of the filter. The foam is
already got double sided tape on it.

Now remove the glove box by ply the 2 plastic tags located at either
side of the globe box. Once the glove box is removed, remove the
plastic panel right behind it.

Now you should see the air cond, it is white in color, look straight
you can see there is a lid, just pull it open.

As for the orientation, if you are looking at the glove box, it
goove should be running from the glove box to firewall, NOT left
door to right door.....

Sorry for bad english....bit hard to describle.

Alan

Thanks Alan, I'll give it a go this morning and report back on how accurate your instructions were emoticon

How much did your filter cost?

Re: attn: Alan - Microfilter

not having much luck...

Can't even find the plastic tags you're talking about, and can only see 4 screws once you open t he glove-box door - two on the top, below either side of the DVD DIN slot, and then one at the top of each side of the glove-box...

I've undone the 4 screws but the box still wont come out. Seems like there's some more screws I can get to @ the bottom somewhere... Where are the plastic tags you're talking about???

Is yours a series 2 X-Trail, like mine? The dash is quite abit different to a Series 1 I think...

To remove the glove box, it is not screw on, actuall there is 2 plastic thingy inside the glove box, once you open the glove box, it is on the inside of the globe box, once on each side.....

Re: attn: Alan - Microfilter

Piece of cake... All done in about 10-15 minutes...

For anyone else contemplating doing this:

The clips for the glovebox are in the bottom of the glovebox, but you'll need a flat screwdriver or a butter knife or similar to lever them out, unless you've got long strong fingernails emoticon

There's about 6 screws on the cover behind the glove box, and you may need to remove the cover underneath the glovebox which is held on by 3 clips, to help get the cover r off behind the glovebox. There is also two clips (similar to the cover underneath the glovebox) on the left hand side of the cover behind the glovebox (one @ top & one @ bottom, both on left hand side).

I noticed there was a wiring loom plug clipped to the top side of the cover behind the glovebox (hidden from view until cover removed). It is mounted on a little door so you can access it without having to remove the back cover... I have no idea what it is for.

Pity I didn't have more time to see how I'm going to mount my CB radio there (above the glovebox) and where to get power for it when I eventually get it.

Will report later if this new filter removes the mouldy smell after the A/C is turned off... I wonder why Nissan wouldn't fit one as standard???

I got mine from Rockdale Nissan Spare Parts.

Every Nissan dealership/spare parts would have them or at least be able to get them in.

Re: attn: Alan - Microfilter

Is it the same process for Series I? I know that the glovebox compartment set-up is different between series I & II and there is no dvd slot in seriesI.

Excellent instructions though Rich & Alan.
