And Another Thing...
We had stopped in lovely Lithgow for fuel and I was standing next to my bike at the bowser, chatting to no. 4 brother. As we spoke, I noticed an old guy in a Ford Falcon come into the servo and head our way. He wasn't going fast, but he was getting a bit close. I warned little brother and he jumped out of the path of the car as I grabbed my bike and leant it as far as I could towards me. The car honestly missed the bike by less than 5 cm and continued on to the next bowser, where it smashed into the pole that protects bowsers from old blokes in Ford Falcons.
The old fellow got out of his car, looked at his crushed fender and what was left of his headlight, scratched his head and started filling his car with fuel. It was like he did that everyday, and he didn't even acknowledge his earlier targets standing a few metres from him. I felt that was impolite of him, given that I had gone to the trouble of using my best expletives when describing his driving skills.
I wonder how many kilometres he gets to the body panel?
Back From The Ride
I had a great time, despite some really wet weather on the return trip. Hit an unexpected slippery patch at 110kph in the pouring rain and came within a whisker of being an ex-biker. Still having scary flashbacks. Must be getting old, but another slippery patch could fix that situation. Stupid slippery roads...
Getting Ready To Ride
Tomorrow I go on my annual road bike ride with family and friends, about fifteen of us. We ride out into country NSW on Saturday morning, stop at a pub for the night and ride home on the Sunday when our vision returns and we can stand up again. That fresh country air can sure knock you around a bit...
I'm looking forward to the run - it may be raining this year but we go for the experience, not the comfort. The company is damn fine, too. :)
I Have a Blog???
Well, yeah, I knew that. But it's been years since I posted an entry here. Why? Because it was out of the way, that's why. But no excuses now - the blog is here in my face (technically just below my face). Nice work, Thor and Lesigner Girl. :)
